wondering if anyone could give me information on the dates
they tape the christmas parade and how would you get tickets
for this or do you just need to be in the park on those days
thanks

Supposed to be the first weekend in December over several days and locations. It is a madhouse and you stand and watch the same thing over and over and over until they get all the camera angles they need.

If you want to visit the parks and have fun, you probably want to avoid the parade taping.

:) It is a nightmare crowd, so packed that you cannot really get down Mainstreet except for going through the stores. However if you do make it, the rides around the park, especiall SM and BTM are (were) very empty. We took the train from splash back around to the front, to leave quickly when we happened upon the taping in 2006. This year I guess 12/3-12/5, starts in the morning when park opens, or soon thereafter.

I don't believe there has been any official announcement about this year's dates and tickets.

Why do they tape the Christmas parade? Is it Disney that is doing the taping or do they invite other film crews to film on this date?

And why would anyone care? Would you know when you will see your family on TV or in a Disney ad? Even if your family is in the crowd would anyone see you or is there a chance you'll be edited out of the show (I'm not sure what show, but there must be one)? Or do they pull families for special filming? I just don't get it.

The Christmas parade is shown on ABC on Christmas morning. It lasts about three hours and shows the parade from MK and DL and sometimes other Disney resorts around the world. They will tape lots of musical acts and intersperse them throughout the parade.

They will swing to the crowd every so often, especially if they see a cute kiddo or good looking babe. For every hour of show, there is at least an hour of commercial or so it seems. Actually the entire three hours is commercial advertising ABC shows and Disney shows/movies/etc.

We have been at WDW the past 2 years during the taping and it is a MAD HOUSE!! It is usually the first Saturday of December except last year they did the taping on Sunday because it rained all day Sat. We stayed at GF and were checking in that Sat but becuase of the rain, they did some of the musical acts and other little skits in the hotel lobby. We saw Celine Dion, Nick Cannon and a couple of other Dis channel celebrities. That Sunday late in the day we decided to head to MK and the taping was still going on. It was so crowded they made a walking path to the Tomorrow Land area behind all the stores. The lines for the rides were ridiculous so we ended up leaving.

We're going Dec. 3-5, so I had contacted Disney about the dates of the parade taping. They wouldn't confirm anything at this time. :sad2:
