Now that I know we have to change our cruise to something in the Caribbean (changing bc of the whole DUI/Canada issue I posted about a few days ago) debating on doing which cruise to pick...definitely doing the western Caribbean just can't decide which theme. If you've been on either or both what did you think? Which one would you choose?

I did Thanksgiving Merrytime, and my kids enjoyed the extras more than I did. Mental block for me seeing fake snow and winter scenes when it's 80 out. it was nice, but for the price charged, next time I would either try a non holiday week, or do Halloween on the high seas instead and I think it would be a better value. IMO

Don't make me choose! Halloween cruises offer a chance to get into costumes (besides pirate) but merrytime offer the chance to get into the holiday spirit. The only thing I noticed is for the NYC cruise the Halloween were a bit cheaper. Not sure if that's the same for PC or Galveston cruises

We've done both and enjoyed both. You can't go wrong with either. Some families want to be home for Christmas, and don't want to haul presents on a cruise. Some kids want to trick or treat with their neighborhood friends.

Halloween would probably be better weather, unless another hurricane like Sandy the Frankenstorm crashes your cruise.

Check everyone's schedules. Would missing school cause problems? Crunch the numbers, and decide which is a better deal.

We were on the Eastern PC cruise last year during Halloween, and we just finished our first Very Merry Cruise on the Magic.
DH likes the Halloween theme since lots of folks dressed up for both Halloween and Pirate Night. I liked the
Christmas theme and decorations.

Christmas is way prettier but Halloween was alot more fun. Christmas decorations and characters in their holiday attire versus Halloween decor and trick or treat around the ship.

We did the last Halloween cruise on the Fantasy (were on board for 10/31) it was a lot of fun and I was surprised and thrilled that Castaway Cay was already decorated for Christmas, which was so cute! I felt like I got the best of both worlds. That said, I'm going to do a Merrytime next yr in the name of science

We did the Merrytime the Saturday after Thanksgiving and we are doing it this coming Saturday. I am really wishing we would have done it at the end of last month as there is just so much Christmas stuff going on, I am really stressed to get ready. We leave Thursday and I haven't even put a single item in my luggage!!
