Did anyone not get all of their Christmas/NYE reservations they wanted?

Just trying to figure if all this day-by-day calling is necessary.

I wouldn't take a chance for BWV...either of the special views, standard or Boardwalk. Wouldn't the people who rent just love to have those day by day bookings to themselves???

Called yesterday for 12/28/08-1/02/09 and was able to get OKW for whole stay with no problem. I have never called day-to-day for any dvc reservations(even at xmas and summer), but others do it all the time. I'm sure sometimes it would be important(BWV standard view or VWL @ xmas), but it should not be considered the "normal" way to make reservations.

Necessary for studio BW view, for sure. I got all mine day by day. Lucky. But by 9:15 on one or two days they were not available for another DISer.

We just finished booking BWV standard view studio for 12/28-01/03. We called day by day just to be sure we could get what we wanted and now we don't have to worry.

I called day-by-day for my Standard View. I think you need to for Standard View, Boardwalk Views, AKV Concierge & all Grand Villas.

Here is an example of someone who didn't get what the wanted at the 11-month window, even though they called the first day they could day-by-day. They just didn't call early enough:

Staying at SSR 12/27 - 01/03. Called day-by-day... probably wasn't necessary at all. But didn't want to take the chance. Sometimes reading the DIS makes me more anal about some things I guess

I finished making my day by day reservations for our trip from Dec 23-Jan 2nd.
Since we needed a 1 bedroom VALUE we weren't taking any chances. Luckily we were able to get it for all days, but it was a close call for the nights of Dec 31st and Jan 1st

Just got off the phone with MS. We've booked 12/26 - 12/31 in a 1-BR Boardwalk View at BWV and 21/31 & 1/1 (checking out 1/2) in a Preferred. We are on a wait list for the Boardwalk View for the other two nights. MS was pretty confident that we'd be able to get it.

Our true plan is to change to another resort at the 7 month window for the whole stay. I won't book day-by-day since DH would NOT like moving resorts in the middle of a vacation. I hope we are able to change, but if not we love our BWV.
