Every year, the Christmas Mother raises funds for presents for needy people in our town. The shopping is done at Walmart, and they have volunteers "shop" for all the items on the list. The budget was $35 per person. I shopped yesterday and blew through several lists before I had to go home to get the kids off the bus. It was VERY humbling. A 92 year old lady wanted Depends and a sweatsuit. I shopped for many children and families. The kids would ask for one modest toy, and the rest of the list was clothes. Many people were asking for a winter coat. We live in a rural county, and poor people out here are really poor. It really made me grateful for everything our family has. It's been a tough year for us, but this put it in perspective for me.
