Christmas morning gift opening..

We usually host a big C'mas eve party here, so each of our 5 families pass out their presents one family at a time :goodvibes. It would take all night if we did it one by one ! We give each of our grands theirs to all open together and show everyone. Then each family continues to pass out their gifts and open until the room is full of papers and bows knee deep high . It really is a fun holiday we all look forward to sharing! :lovestruc

We do free for all, thank goodness!! DH's family does one at a time. When dh and I were dating, and we went to his house, the pressure was unbearable. His mom is very gift-giving challenged (not as bad as Jeafl's MIL, but still). Imagine an 18 yr old girl with a frozen smile on her face as she opens a pair of Hello Kitty socks.

We will open our gifts one person at a time. So - you open one, then I open one, then he opens one, then she opens one . . . Repeat until finished. We don't have a ton of presents so it prolongs the experience that way. Every time we open a present with a bow on it, we will stick the bow on the baby's head. Good times will be had by all. We start with stockings. All presents are wrapped including stocking stuffers.

Ours is a bit different - I pass out one gift at a time to the kids and they them at the same time (I do it by the most comparable gift for each kid). I pass out another gift to each of the kids and they all open at once....I hope I said this so people can understand LOL :goodvibes

So the kids will each get a gift at the same time and then open it together? Fun!

When I was small my Santa never wrapped presents for us I guess I never thought Santa might wrap presents. I'm glad I HATE wrapping

when i was younger, santa always wrapped presents, and my gifts from my parents were wrapped too. i'd never heard of not wrapping presents until i joined the dis!

We always had gifts from Santa wrapped. NOTHING was unwrapped. I had never heard of that until I joined the Dis. I also never heard of "Santa gifts" and then getting "parent gifts" EVERYTHING was from Santa. So again, until I joined the Dis, I had never heard of that either. Seems weird to me to have both Santa/parent gifts but I'm sure to some people hearing that you only got Santa gifts is weird LOL

The kids open first as a free for all the santa and grandparent gifts. Then the adults do one at a time. It would not work out one at a time for the kids gifts as I spend a general equal money amount and not equal number of presents. It's not a huge difference in the number of presents but it is never equal.

One at a time at each of the gift openings we attend. We take a lot of photos also, but we do it so that the gift-giver can see the reaction of the gift given and can be thanked properly.
