I've read a few questions here about making your own centerpieces and thought of you all yesterday when I was out shopping. Those of you who would like to make your own might want to check out some end of holiday sales to see what you can use. At Wal-Mart everything is 50% off and I saw a shelf full of large sized glass hurricanes for $5 (similar to this http://www.target.com/gp/detail.htm...8/602-9715050-8931029?ie=UTF8&asin=B000GU0AHW
but wider), they also had glass and metal squares for holding candle arrangements that were beautiful and would be lovely bases for centerpieces (one was a faux marble, harder than plastic and much more elegant than faux marble sounds, another was a crackled silver type base, both lovely and only a couple dollars each).
