Christmas List

I feel that I have been extra good this year and would love to have the Canon 35mm f/1.4L and/or a Lensbaby for Christmas. HOWEVER, given my equipment spends this year, I'd consider myself very fortunate to get a replacement lens cap.

Well Santa is helping me swap my Sony kit for a Canon, so here's my xmas list...

T1i body
18-200 IS
Sigma 30mm f/1.4 HSM
85mm f/1.8 USM

With all this I think I'll be squared away for my Disney trip in January! =)

So would it be frowned upon to skip the photo gear and ask for a down payment and go ahead to plan a new Disney trip next year????? :rolleyes1

I figure once Santa's involved, there's no changing of minds allowed, even if it IS refundable........

I'm trying to decide between the Canon 24-105 f/4 L IS or the 24 - 70 f/2.8 L....hard decisions!

Ditto!! But who knows if that's going to happen. I'll probably ask for money towards my fund for that lens- part of which I'm using to rent both in the spring so I can decide!

Tokina 11-16 was originally on the list but now it's looking like I'll be buying that one as a present to myself ;)

Next year the list may consist of a 40D or 50D.

I'll add to my list.
  • Gitzo GT5541LS Tripod
  • Sachtler FSB-6 Fluid Head
  • Canon 24mm TSE lens
  • Canon 100-400mm lens
  • Canon 400mm f/2.8 lens
I haven't been that good this year, so I don't expect anything other than the Canon 85mm f/1.8 lens mentioned in my original post. I hoping to get more of the other items this spring when bonus time (hopefully) roles around. Well, I can't imagine that I'll get the 400m f/2.8 ($7,000!), but I have a decent shot at the others.

I want of these too, just because. I'm not sure how often I'd use a 36 pound lens, but it would be nice to have just in case. It would certainly to the pressure off of getting a spot up close for Wishes.

Hey, let me know when they have a buy one get one free sale!! I can't swing the 120k, but 60 would be no problem! :lmao:

Wow!

After seeing that I guess the one question that comes to mind is:

Should I buy a new house, or a new lens? :rotfl:

I'll play. Santa reads my Amazon wish list which is full of goodies......

Tokina 35mm f2.8
Tokina 10-17mm Fisheye
Tamron 28-75mm f2.8

I'd be willing to bet that at least ONE of these will appear under my tree. DH, err, Santa is pretty giving around Christmas-time.

Last Christmas I got the 50D, there's nowhere for me to go but glass now :)!

Here's a lucky guy that B&H picked to field test that lens: http://www.video.bhphotovideo.com/?skin=oneclip&autoplay=true&fr_story=FRdamp354531

Another idea for that 1200mm lens: use it during Wishes to get a close-up photo of Tinkerbell (and spoil any Tinkerbell secrets ;) ).

Santa'a paypal account is looking as fat as a Christmas goose. Some of my old toys did quite well finding home's with new girls and boys.

I'm thinking a 5D MKII might be delivered by a B&H elf in time for a Disney holiday trip. A pair of Cybersyncs would be nice too.

I'm looking at the new Tamron 17-50mm 2.8
I'd also like that Sigma 30mm.

I *need* a new tripod.

I'd like some other gear as well... like some good triggers, umbrella for OCF.

I bought my 70-200mm 2.8L from money I had saved from my sessions. I love it. I don't think I have it calibrated on my 50d exactly right, though, and I'm still getting used to it, as I'm fine shooting at 1/100 with my other lenses, but this one is so heavy. When I am perfectly steady or on a tripod, it's amazing. Hand-holding.. gawd. It feels like you're holding a 5lb bag of sugar on the front end. Still, I think the micro-adjustment on the body isn't exact, but I can't seem to get it better. It's all weird. I was thinking about sending the body and lens to Canon so they can do it for me. Same with my nifty. It's bugging me. LOL Can y'all tell?

I'd love a Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 and the 70-200mm 2.8 but realistically either the Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 or the Nikon 85mm 1.8.

If it's Santa then I'd place a request for a Sony 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G lens and a Zeiss 135mm 1.8 I won't get greedy and ask for the 300 f/2.8 G lens though. :rotfl:

Otherwise I think he may show up early with a tripod strap or bag. It would be nice if he'd throw in a memory card or two and a case that would fit a Canon D10. And I wouldn't mind a new ball head that doesn't give me fits with the quick release plate. :headache:

My Tamron 28-70mm stays on my camera 75% of the time. It's very sharp and such a good value for the quality.

I think the best I can hope for this year is a good tripod. I would love a new lens but I have promised myself I would learn to better use this camera before investing further.

I am signed up for a few classes too.
