Am going 'home' (BCV) in 2 weeks and thought we'd hang some lights on the balcony. A question for those of you who do this, where is there an electrical outlet? Is there one on the balcony? Do you use an extension cord?

Thanks

We took lights a few years ago. We plugged them in inside the room, which meant that our sliding door could not be closed completely and locked when the lights were on. I doubt that room security was seriously breached, but someone could gain entrance to the room via the balcony.

call me the offical DVC Scroogepopcorn::

i worry about the extra electrical load/fire hazard especially from non-UL lights;) not to forget aesthetics. Have you thought about a mini tree in your room?

then there's the issue of palmetto bugs gaining a foothold thru a cracked balcony door (don't make me retell that story again lol).

May possibly violate protective covenants, although i've never read thru the contract to ascertain what they entail.

I have never seen balcony lights at BCV or BWV, but OKW always has a lot of them. But then, OKW has outlets on the balcony too. This week, there are lots of balconys decorated here at OKW.

to Keisha.

Palmetto bugs are USUALLY not a problem here in FL in December.

That said, they CAN come in, but they generally don't.

Besides, we have snakes, lizards, possums, etc that can also come in. Not to mention sandhill cranes, ducks, herons, etc, etc, etc! (Apologies to the King of Siam!!!)

PS: I keep my sliding doors open MOST of the year.....

 you are a brave man to live in the wilderness.;)

as for the palmetto bugs (fancy name for gross critters imo) we made their acquaintance in early October. Ex owns a local exterminator company. When he went to "bug school":rolleyes1 ; they were informed that tourists in the south who unwittingly leave doors open are a great source of income.
