Hi DVC'ers

Last year we stayed a OKW in December and noticed there were strands of Christmas lights on the balconies of some rooms, were these
DVC'ers? If so how were they pluged in, I was thinking of bringing some of my own this time but couldn't remember if there was an outlet near the balcony door.

TIA,
Tinkandme

Don't the lights look pretty?! There is an outlet out on the porch where they can be plugged in. You might want to bring along some masking or Scotch tape to help hold them in place.

In December 1999 we brought a small artificial tree and lights. It was a good idea, but the tree looked lost in the living room of our 1-br, and a bigger tree would have been too much trouble.

Last December we brought strands of lights and garlands. Instead of decorating the porch, were we wouldn't see it, we decorated the island in the kitchen. We plugged in the lights behind the TV. It looked very festive, and we got to look at it whenever we were in the room. We're going this December again, and will bring the decorations.

Now don't laugh, but last year after christmas we were at bed and bath and they were selling out their fiber optic 2 foot christmas trees..complete with it's own stand. We knew we were going to be at OKW for 12 nights in December, so we picked one up for $8.....we plan to pack it and bring it with us! The lights are multicolor, and it really doesn't even need any ornaments. We plan to bring a couple strings of lights for the balacony too. It does look very festive to see all the decorations when you drive around the resort! Hope the 2' tree is big enough..we tought we would put it on the end table in the living room, or maybe the center of the kitchen table.

Wish we had a cd player in the room.....does anyone cart a CD player along with them when their mode of transportation is by air??

Peggy Sue - One thing you could do is bring a portable cd player w/ speakers that plug into it.

If you get our room we have the clips all up on the balcony. I think it is 1614!! We actually got the same room and they were still there. We used the 3-m clear ones and you really have to look to see them. The tape kept coming down. It is fun and a tradition for us now!

The first time we went in Dec and I saw those lights on the balcony, I was just so thrilled. IT was so cool and really made it seem like home. The following Dec. trip, I brought a load of little white lights and decorated all over the balcony of our two bedroom. I loved putting those lights on! Swimming in the quiet pool and looking up at our room and seeing the lights was great fun.

We were also there for Christmas 1999. We brought a small artificial tree (3.5 ft, I think), decorations (all Mickey, of course) and a few strings of lights. We set it on the corner table in the living room. It made it feel very homey.

Another idea for bringing Christmas into the room is to order a Christmas arrangement from the WDW Florist. They usually have several options and some include things you can keep (like a Mickey/Minnie candleholder in the center). They are especially nice in a studio where space is limited. I also think the small trees, especially the newer fiber optic ones, are a great idea.

We also brought Christmas lights with us. It's so much fun to see the balconies decorated.
