Christmas lights at fort wilderness

Be sure and see Dave's castle display. It's worth a trip from many miles away. He usually seems to get into the 700 loop.

We are considering doing either a sleigh ride or wagon ride for party of 4 on 12/10 or 12/13. If we do 12/10 it would be after our AK day. We have reservations at RFC at 5:30. I am thinking we would reserve a 8:30pm sleigh ride if we do this night. We will be driving from AK to fort wilderness. My question is where do we park?

If we do 12/13 it would be our last night before heading home. We will be leaving MK after it closes at 7pm. Again I am thinking 8:30 would be a good time if we do sleigh ride and not wagon ride. What would be the best way to get to the fort?

Looking forward to seeing all the great Christmas displays. I haven't been over to the fort since I was little so don't remember too much about it.

Park at the entrance and take a bus to Settlement for the carriage ride.

Take a boat from MK, it lets you off very close to the Settlement/carriage ride.

Option 2 is much simpler.

I plan to come visit the Fort this year. I have not been there since I was a kid with my family. But have always wanted to come visit again. I figure what better excuse than to see the Chirstmas decorations.

I saw the amazing posts about Dave's Castle display, I hope I can see that this year.

Keep checking and Dave will post his dates he will be at the Fort and even his loop and site number. The castle is amazing.

We are looking forward to seeing it all. It will be our first time to stay at the Fort and we will be there December 20th thru the 28th!!

Any chance the decorations will be up before Thanksgiving. We are there until November 25. One year, we took the carriage ride (before they turn it into the sleigh ride) and really enjoyed the decorations.

Yes, down come Halloween and up go Christmas decorations. :santa:

If we choose the Wagon ride, will it go through most of the campground,or just certain areas?

Campsite decorations during the holidays are AMAZING! Yeah, some over just over-the-top gaudy, but there are just so many cool ones. Definitely worth a visit if you are at WDW when they are up.

Walking is doable, if your family is used to a decent amount of walking. You can ride the internal bus some and walk some. A golf cart is a LOT of fun, too, and would allow you to more easily see most or all of the loops.

This makes me really miss Fort Wilderness! :goodvibes

Over the top gawdy is what makes it wonderful!!! ::yes::

It's easy to ride the internal bus, jump off and walk around, then jump back on again and ride to another area. Of course, I recommend the golf cart. We've rented one for an evening to hang out at the Fort and it's easy.

I thought you could only rent a golf cart if you were staying at the fort?

We are planning a trip Thanksgiving week and want to visit the Fort one evening to see the lights/decorations. Will they be up that early? Thank you!
