Christmas ideas for a 10-12 month old? I bought a learning table. Anything else that would be good? No idea what would actually be played with :)

any toy that is a push-around for learning to walk and that can be a ride-on for later is always good for that age.

My dd was 11 months on her first Christmas. She was spoiled by everyone in mine and dh's family. My living room looked like an aisle at TRU after she opened her presents. You know what she loved playing with, balls and plastic cups :rotfl:

Walking or pulling toys are a lot of fun for that age. They have adorable stroller ones for little girls that have good play time after they're done walking. There are also convertible ones as well, so it can go from a push walker to an older toy. Those are great and space saving.

We also got a LOT of play out of Little People and while 10-12 months is a little young to play imaginatively, they're great to have around.

I agree with the pp who mentioned Little People. Both of my boys L-O-V-E-D them at that age. The barn was the biggest hit :)

I agree with Little People sets...the barn is great and so is the zoo animals set.

Stacking toys & blocks are great as well as balls and the walking/ride on toys that others mentioned.

Little People, books, blocks, soft baby dolls and anything that plays music

Not sure how much you're looking to spend, but at that age my son got a Radio Flyer walker wagon. He loved filling it up with stuff and pushing it around. He and his little brother still play with it, and they're 4 and 7 now!

Our son was this age T his first Christmas. We bought him a nice toy box.

He was the first grandchild on both aides, so a toy box was needed after the frenzy of a first Christmas. Lol

Each of my girls received a rocking chair with their name on it. I've also seen the pottery barn/land of nod chairs with names on them. My girls love their chairs and use them daily.
A small table and chairs for crafts:what not

Can't play with it (yet), but what about Disney stock? Think they used to issue certificates of some kind - they might have phased that out by now.

A box and wrapping paper. :)

As a "been there, done that, now raising teenagers mom" DON'T go overboard with toys for three reasons - 1) they aren't likely to get played with much at that age, and will get outgrown quickly. 2) you don't want to set yourself up for the Dudley Dursley syndrome (last year I got 30 presents, this year I only have TWENTY NINE! And that gets really hard to deal with as they get to an age where they don't want too much, but what they want is expensive) 3) there may come a point where you look back at Ready's post and think "fewer Little People, Legos, Nerf Guns and Video Games and more money into 529s would have been a better idea."

It also isn't a bad idea to set yourself up for a pattern. Ours is jammies and one gift from Mom and Dad on Christmas eve. A big "Santa" gift, plus a number of smaller gifts which will ALWAYS involve one book and one game.

1st Christmas I bought their wagon :) I knew we'd need it for the zoo. If you will need one, this was fun. I put a giant (useless) stuffed strawberry shortcake in it.

Dd#2 (not needing a second wagon) I bough loads of little people ( off Craigslist used actually) as too many yrs in between they vanished/lost/gave away.

FP Laugh and Learning Home -- that thing got played with for YEARS. Heck, if my kids spot it, they still play with it. Lots of buttons and knobs and things plus they loved opening the door and crawling through it.

FP fish bowl - http://www.fisher-price.com/en_AU/brands/babytoys/products/44632 -- at that age they are often fascinated by putting things in and out of buckets of some sort. This was pretty popular with mine for well over a year or so.

Books! Lift the flap are usually big at that age so think Where's Spot?, Dear Zoo and so on.

Agree with Little People. My kids loved the barn and we still take out the nativity set at Christmas.

My kids also really loved toy cell phones-we have a few different ones.

I work in a specialty toy store, so these are things I love for that age and are a little different than the usual suspects. You may not see them at Target, but a local independent store (first choice!) or Amazon are good bets.

Pop up people/pop up farm animals by galt toys
Peep and peek eggs by Kidoozie
Melissa and Doug 3 little pigs house
Funny Animal Magnets by Janod Toys
Tolo people & animals
Pounding xylophone by Hape
Stacking blocks
JellyCats stuffed animals
Baby Stella doll
Melissa and Doug chomp clack alligator push toy

One thing DD (now 15!) got when she was one that got us a lot of mileage was a big box of Duplo blocks. When she was one she was just happy to have a box full of a bunch of things! As the kids got older the blocks built many things, including house floorplans for the little dolls pretend play.

Good wooden blocks are great too. And last pretty much forever (unless you get a Labrador puppy). I suspect some of my wooden blocks are 70 years old - so they are wonderful for "buy them now for baby, keep them for grandkids).
