I'm making bead bracelets, earrings, and necklaces for my female friends in my spare time (I can do a bracelet in under an hour).
Through a catalog, we're ordering a few of these car/tool sets (around $15) that have a little screw driver, tire pressure gauge, pocket knife, and something else, and there's another set with office supply things.
I also picked up a bunch of small things at Harry & David's to make little gift baskets/bags with: truffles, smoked salmon, sample size coffee.
I was in WDW last month, so I went to the Disney outlet stores in Belz and got TONS of stuff for kids. For the slightly older ones that are starting school, I got some cute Mickey or Minnie backpacks, a Toy Story Buzz/Zurg toy, and lots of clothes. At a local book fair, I got these sets of learning flash cards, I will break it apart and put a set in each of the backpacks or with other gifts with pencils/pens.
I went to the Build-a-Bear Workshop (they also have a website) where I bought 2 bears and a bunny, I was surprised how reasonably priced some were! One really cute bear was only $12!
What I've done the past couple years is buy things on sale during the year (I often make my own little gift sets) and store them in a big plastic container I got at Sears so I don't misplace or forget about anything.
