I feel like I should start shopping - or at least getting ideas for Christmas gifts. Every year we try to buy unique gifts for people, but seem to end up buying the same stuff - shirts, pjs, etc. Does anyone have any unique gift suggestions to buy for anyone? We have lots of people to shop for so any ideas for adults or children would be helpful. Thanks!

For our kids' aunts and uncles this year, and their teachers, we selected items from:

http://www.nickolai-gurgeiff.com/

They sell Russian made items. We bought gzhel for the aunts and uncles. Most of the smaller items cost $6 - $12. Gzhel is Russian porcelain that is made in the town of Gzhel that is outside Moscow. Gzhel is known for its clay earth that makes beautiful porcelain. All gzhel items are handpainted, have a white background with a blue design. Some pieces are highlighted with gold accents. Some pieces can get quite pricy.

They come in alot of different shapes and sizes. I was able to pick up a fireman figurine for my BIL who is a volunteer fireman. My family has always collected gzhel roosters, so another sister will get that. My brother is into sailing, so he will get a ship's captain.

They are unique and are meaningful from my kids as they came from Russia.

The website I listed above also has beautiful Russian santas. I bought one of those for my Mom.

I bet no one else in your family will think to buy something like this.

I'm making bead bracelets, earrings, and necklaces for my female friends in my spare time (I can do a bracelet in under an hour).

Through a catalog, we're ordering a few of these car/tool sets (around $15) that have a little screw driver, tire pressure gauge, pocket knife, and something else, and there's another set with office supply things.

I also picked up a bunch of small things at Harry & David's to make little gift baskets/bags with: truffles, smoked salmon, sample size coffee.

I was in WDW last month, so I went to the Disney outlet stores in Belz and got TONS of stuff for kids. For the slightly older ones that are starting school, I got some cute Mickey or Minnie backpacks, a Toy Story Buzz/Zurg toy, and lots of clothes. At a local book fair, I got these sets of learning flash cards, I will break it apart and put a set in each of the backpacks or with other gifts with pencils/pens.

I went to the Build-a-Bear Workshop (they also have a website) where I bought 2 bears and a bunny, I was surprised how reasonably priced some were! One really cute bear was only $12!

What I've done the past couple years is buy things on sale during the year (I often make my own little gift sets) and store them in a big plastic container I got at Sears so I don't misplace or forget about anything.

I find they have a lot of great ideas on QVC
