Hello group,
Well today, our Christmas gift from us to us (the best kind right) arrived by way of WDTC.
By way of short introduction "us", is myself (32) and I am taking my mom on this trip. It was always one of her dreams to spend a week at Disney staying on site and the whole deal. Since mom hasn't been to the resort since 1991 and I haven't been since 1995, I rekon there will be a lot of new and exciting stuff for us to see.
I think the arrival of the travel documents/vouchers is defintely the milestone where the concept of a trip stops being a 'fantay' and starts being a reality.
One humours note is that they felt the need to tell us that River Country would be closed during our visit, however, we should visit either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon instead. (My travel dates are 2/5-2/12).
Anyway, I roughed out an itinerary, feel free to point out and pitfalls I may not be counting on.
Sat 2/5 - Travel day to WDW. Since we will be on the Winter Dream Maker, we will go to MK as soon as circumstances allow. I am planning on the Liberty Tree Taven character dinner, and they will be showing Wishes that night.
Sun 2/6 - MGM day (hopefully we can take the parks at a liesurely pace this time of year), Fantasmic dinner package that night.
Mon 2/7 - Uncle and Aunt joining us for day at MK. No plans, let the chips fall where they may, Spectromagic that night.
Tue 2/8 - Keys to the Kingdom tour (Mom intends to use this time to relax at resort and all) - Drop by Biergarten for dinner, and stay for Illuminations.
Wed 2/9 - Epcot all day. Dinner at Alfredos. If stamina holds out may drop in on the EMH at MK that night.
Thu 2/10 - Animal Kingdom all day. Lunch at Rainforest (I went to the one in Disneyland in 2001 and raved about it so much Mom wants to see it). - Spirit of Aloha (weather permitting) at night.
Fri 2/11 - Enjoy the resort day, may drop by Downtown Disney and DisneyQuest in afternoon and evening.
Sat 2/12 - Travel day - I guesstimate we have till 3 to go to whatever parks we need to finish up. Possibly have late breakfast at Cape May Cafe.
Note that we plan to take the parks at a relaxed pace, with rest breaks as needed. The dinner show and sit down meals most with entertainment of some sort) are part of the mid-day break idea. I hear February should be fairly empty.
Myself, I am a certified amusement park junkie, and regularly do 7 days of amusement parks straight, (with 120 mile drives between parks), so I think I have the stamina, I just have to remember to take it easy. Tour smarter, not harder.
(Yes, the PS's are all made...)
Overall with the Winter Dream Maker discounts, and the fact that WDTC underbid the actual airline website for the air arrangements, and I am happy to report this trip is so far coming in under budget. Of course that only means I have more money for those sit-down meals
