Christmas gift for lecturer

I'm a uni student in my 4th year, currently doing my honours project which I'm loving!

My project supervisor is a guy who's written in numerous books on bacteria and is very knowledgeable. He has been a great supervisor and I want to get him a thoughtful gift for Christmas.

I don't know whether to go down the bacteria side of things, and if so does anyone have any ideas?
Also if not, should I just get a nice bottle of wine or something?

My project supervisor is great too, so I know what you mean about wanting to get them a gift to show your appreciation.

Have you ever heard of "giant microbes"? They're soft toys of different microbes (does what it says on the tin..). Check their website out: http://www.giantmicrobes.com/us/main/giantmicrobes-originals/ They're kinda funny so i think they would make a nice light-hearted gift.

If you dont think that your lecturer would be too pleased with getting one of those, then yes, I don't think you can go wrong with a good bottle of wine.

Unless they don't drink alcohol - bummer...

That is such a nice idea!

I didn't do anything for Christmas, but at the end of the course I got everyone to sign a card saying how much they appreciated her help (only 20 people on the course).

I feel I should of done more now!
