DH and I just got home from celebrating the holiday at Raglan Road... and we cannot say enough good things! The interior was so much roomier and more charming than we were anticipating from the outside.

The greeter, Jay, was very personable and chatted with us for a while before seating us right away even though we were an hour early for our reservation. He even came by during the meal to make sure that everything was ok and addressed us both by name. Definitely above and beyond personal attention. :wizard:

We loved the atmosphere and furnishings, not to mention the music. Even though we were dining during "prime time" the restaurant was nearly empty. Our fantastic server Keara told us it was because there were a number of parties dining on the patio, but she also mentioned that they had the capacity to seat 400 people!. Guess it's still too new to have a big following (not that we were complaining). She was great at explaining the menu to make recommendations. We took it all in while basking in the romantic lighting and dark wood interiors. The stained glass windows were beautiful at dusk, too.

As for the food, WOW. We split an appetizer of baby back ribs with a Guiness and honey glace that were so good we nearly fought each other for the last one. For entree I had the sirloin and mashed potatoes (potatoes were ok, but the sirloin melted in my mouth) and DH had the "bangers & mash" (he also thought the potatoes were just ok, but the sausage and onions he inhaled) and declared that they were the perfect compliment to his Bass ale. Everything was served so quickly after ordering that we never had to sit and wait for long without food in front of us. And then... dessert. DH closed his eyes in bliss over the Bailey's irish cream tiramisu-like cream cup, and I enjoyed the banana & caramel creme but didn't think it was as good as his dessert.

As we were leaving the lighting dimmed and the music was turned up as people started to come in for drinks before heading to the dance club. It looked like they were being well cared for at the bar.

Overall I'd say that my impression is that Raglan Road would make a great lunch or dinner for a family or for a couple's fine dining... and an awesome place to have a drink once Pleasure Island starts gearing up for the night. :drinking1

Jay is awesome - and I definitely recommend saying "hi" to him and letting him give you a tour, if he has time! He also sings in the evenings, not sure if he does each night (when we were there, he sang at 8:45).

We are having dinner there tomorrow - I'm really looking forward to Christmas dinner at Raglan Road. Glad you had a wonderful time!

Thanks for sharing your review, DH and I are planning to try Raglan Road next trip and it sounds great! :earsgirl:

We had dinner there with a friend of ours (used our $50 GC) and enjoyed it so much that we've made another ressie for 12/30.

The 'scallop forest' was amazing, and DH and I shared the 'bread and butter bread pudding'. OMG.....

We had a feeling that it was enough for two to share- but it's really enough for 3!!! Yummie is not a good enough word- it was fantastic!

Can't wait to go back.....

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx for posting.
