DH sits on a committee that looks at oil issues (dont ask me as its way over my head!) It is made up of mostly Europeans with a few Canadians and Americans. They meet a couple of times a year and rotate the location each time. Amongst other places he has been to Sweden, Slovenia and Italy. It was his turn to host this time at the exciting international gateway of Warwick (though mildly more exciting than last time when he was based at Leatherhead!)
Anyway, on to the point As he had to take them for a meal last night he booked a Christmas dinner at a restaurant in an old mill (he tried to book at the Castle the meals were reasonable but the room hire was ££££££!) He said that they loved it! Most of them had never had Christmas pudding before which they thought was great but the real highlight was the crackers! They had no idea what they were and they apparently were all really excited by the gift (they were picture frame/metal puzzle standard). One man thought the paper hat was the greatest thing ever! DH said that he was only disappointed that there were trivia questions as opposed to corny jokes in them.
I just thought it was so sweet that crackers got a bunch of mature business people so excited. One man was even planning to walk to Sainsburys this morning to get some to take home!
