Christmas dinner at 1900 Park Faire

Just back from WDW for Christmas and had wonderful experiences, but this was not one of them. Arrived 15 minutes prior to PS at 7:20 and was told we would have to wait 45 minutes to 1 hour. Now, I understand this is Christmas Day, so we decided to hang out around Grand Floridian. While waiting, and irate gentleman was given the same information we received regarding wait. He was screaming and yelling at poor girl and was immediately taken to a table. Everyone was appalled! After long wait (55 minutes) with tired kids ages 7 and 3, food was lousy! Maybe they were overworked, but please --it tasted like frozen tv dinners that had been reheated one too many times. Character interaction was good. Small seating areas compared to other Character meals meant more Characters for kids. They were thoroughly enjoyable especially Tigger who bounced for us all! Dinner was not worth the money, and we will never repeat it! The brightest part of our experience was that we watched the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the Grand Floridian harbour and had most amazing view! Loved it! Fireworks yes! 1900 Park Faire. Never Again!

I don't think your experience was just because it was Christmas; we had the same problem in November! We had PS for 8:00 PM on a Friday & when we checked in at the desk were told 30-45 min. wait (this w/DS 5 & Grandpa 83 in tow)!! Our DD 16, stayed by the restaurant while DH & I parked DS & Grandpa in comfy chairs. We thought our problems were over when we were seated after 40 minutes, but we were wrong. We were surrounded by the families from H..l & had to put up with kids rolling on the floor by our table (we had to try & climb over them without tripping when we went back & forth to the buffet) from one group & with kids running around our table & grabbing the backs of our chairs from another table. Of course all the adults from these groups were oblivious to their precious childrens' behavior & just partied among themselves. I complained to the hostess that nothing was said to these groups about controlling their children, and how we were paying the same amount for our meals as they were & were entitled to enjoy them, but it got me nowhere! We won't be going back.

Sorry to hear about your Christmas dinner! Maybe it wasn't a bad thing that we didn't get to make it to Park Fare during our December visit.

I thought I was the only one who wasn't impressed by 1900 park fare. We didn't have a long wait but once we got up to the buffet I quickly changed my mind about the quality of the food. IMHO the set up made it hard to get what you wanted and I couldn't really see all of the offerings. The food was okay and actually my sister got really, really sick about 8 hours after our meal (I DON'T know if the 2 are related but it seemed strange). The best part was the character interaction - we saw them many times. But we will not be going back and I'm concerned about other buffet meals we're planning for next time.

At least there are others out there with the same bad experience as myself. I would never recommend that anyone eat here. It's a shame that it turned out this way because it had great potential to be a very nice dining experience. Maybe others will now realize that Park Fare is not the place to dine while at Disney and save themselves the time and money associated with a bad meal!

I'm going to express the dissenting opinion...

First, please understand that we have eaten at PF on previous trips and the food quality appeared to be sinking lower and lower to where we didn't really want to eat there this trip (we stay at GF, so it's an easy place to eat). We decided to eat there Monday night 12/9 (terrible rain all day and night) since it was our last night and wanted our 2 year old DD to get to see her buddies. We were pleasantly surprised with how good the food was (we have eaten at many character buffets too). A few nights before we had eaten at Cape May and declared that the best character dinner there was, and it was dethroned Monday night with PF. We were even so shocked that we asked the server if they had changed chefs in the past year (since our last visit). She said they had changed twice in the past 6 months that she has been there. So part of PF's problems might be a revolving door for the chef.

But I'll agree with you on the wait - we arrived early for our PS and had a 20-30 minute wait. They can't seem to get that working very well at PF.

My husband would never set foot in PF again. We ate there and he found it so overpriced. The characters were few (they kept promising some who never turned up, now we understand there are reasons but don't tell the kids they are coming and they DON'T)

The food was tired right off the bat (we are very good cooks and could tell some had been made two hours earlier)

Now, DH loved Chef Mickey's! So fresh, lively and fun (also Hollywood and Vine!)
