Do you think the delay of Christmas in VMK has to do with being politically correct?

I really hope Christmas gets there soon! I'd love a Stitch or Mickey Ears Santa Hat!

I highly doubt it. Primarily because if that was a Disney concern, they would not push the Christmas holiday's so much in the parks and get the decorations up as early as they do.

I know it has always been a touchy topic. I was raised Catholic and my wife is Jewish and we were in Disneyland last year over the holidays. She personally thinks what they do is a little overwhelming, one example being how It's a Small World changes everything. For her though it is something she has been used to since she was a kid, between shopping malls, commercials, TV Shows, etc. I do agree that those who are not Christian, definitely get the short end of the stick as you don't see things like a complete make over of the Haunted Mansion to celebrate Channukah, Ramamdan or the winter holiday's of those faiths. But I guess it will be something that will never change being such a United States / Commercial thing more than anything else.

So aside from my babbling, I just think the changes to VMK is just taking development a little longer than expected, especially with such a focus to get Frontierland and Tomorrowland up and running as well.

Huh?

I was there when you asked Red you just did not know it and that is exactly what she said which I really get tired of hearing why can't they just give us a straight answer!

Soon I hope! As much as I love Halloween this is just way to long to be looking at pumpkins, bats, candy etc!

Mal - yes I was there as my Christmas Mule!! Did you like his name? lol

i really think it has to do with our history of our country. Ever since the the first settler had landed everyone was a christian. as our country grew we did everything under god. Still today we still do everything under god. Still also there are more christian belivers than jewish or muslim or other religons, but everyday with immagration growing each year, soon they may catch up. Which we do need expand our minds for other religons.
Also i think that christians don't have one clue what the other winter holidays are about. we do some things in school but the really don't explain it. I would love to see the other holiday just with christmas for the diveristy of our country but most of us just don't understand.

I hope this makes sense what i am trying to say, i am ill today but went to school and visiting the boards during chem

Last year during Channukah I was staying at a Sinai Hospital. They decorated the hospital up for the holiday and even gave us presents while we were there. I had an extended stay which carried over to the xmas holiday for which they did not decorate or even attempt to achknowledge xmas. I was not upset for I knew that most of the hospital was jewish...so if vmk is afraid to put decorations up because of being proper that is sad......but keeping my fingers crossed that we see something new soon to spice things up getting kind of blah.

Check out the Haunted Mansion Lobby, they have already started decorating in there.

It doesn't bother me a single bit, because modern day Christmas decorations
are Santa-centric, with a nativity scene here and there. I'm Jewish, and
I do enjoy visiting WDW during the "Christmas" season. My family has
always enjoyed driving to the residential areas that really decorate for
Christmas, even though we don't celebrate that holiday.

And for added holiday flair, I added a Hanukkah themed room to the DIS
holiday room teleporter lobby. :)

(When I dated a Catholic guy, he gave me a Christmas stocking. LOL)

Yes and I love your room - that is why I called it a holiday teleporter - just so we can share the beauty of all of rooms no matter what denomination we are. :sunny: :sunny:

Not really sure what that meant?!?

Any way my response wasn't intended to say it was a politically correct thing, or that people need to be sensitive to other religions. I guess what I was getting at is that Disney Parks are loaded with Holiday Decorations by early November....therefore I highly doubt there is a sensitivity issue here and probably more of a "not enough programmers" issue between all of the things coming up in VMK like the new lands.

Those decorations with the wreaths and garland and the Skeleton from "The Nighmare Before Christmas" have been there since they made that room. I noticed all that stuff when i first saw it.

So nothing new :guilty:

My family's house is ALL decorated!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come VMK catch up!!!!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

IMHO, it has absolutely nothing to do with the holidays' denominations. Disney is a predominently Christian company...Walt was Christian and Christmas is an enormous part of their celebrations. It is only recently that Hannukah items have been produced and sold.

I never thought of Disney as a company being Christian. If that was the
case, the Southern Baptists wouldn't have put out their feeble attempt at
boycotting Disney for giving health benefits to gay couples.
