I have heard that campers go all out to decorate for Christmas, I will be in Disney Dec 3rd till the 11th. How can I go around the campground and look at everyones decorations? Is there an internal bus? I have never been to Fort Wilderness before so I dont know if walking is an option or is it just too big? We plan to eat at Trails end there also, is this a good place to eat?

Welcome to the camping board.

Trail's End is located at Pioneer Hall. There are two camping loops that are an easy walk from here. Traditionally, these loops have some of the best decorations. I am referring to the 100 loop and the 700 loop. It isn't a far walk at all from Pioneer Hall to these loops.

Another option would be to take one of the Christmas Sleigh rides from Pioneer Hall. These are horse-drawn carriages decorated to look like big old sleighs. They drive around the Fort, including some of the decorated camping loops. I believe this would set you back $60, and up to four people can ride in your sleigh.

There is an internal bus system, but the buses drive on the main roads, not around the loops. This isn't a very good way to see the decorations.

If you want to drop about $70, you could rent a golf cart up at the front desk. They only rent them by the day, not hourly. But, you could drive around the entire campground and see everything there is to see with a golf cart.

The food at Trail's End is good, basic buffet food. The main entrees are fried chicken, ribs and roast beef. Folks seem to like it, as it is usually packed.

If you bring bikes, that's another option for seeing the decorations. That's what we do.

:thumbsup2 Thank you! Is the sleigh ride something I can book in advance? or do it when I am there? If I do it there where would I go?

The FW sleigh rides were offered for the first time last year (2009). I have not participated in this activity, and I'm not sure that I ever will, but here's some information for you.

This is a link to some brief info here on the Disboards: FW Sleigh Ride Info

And here's a link from last year from the official WDW blog (who knew that there was such a thing?): Disney Blog Info on Sleigh Rides

This is a very nice, but pricey, activity.
