I was just able to plan a last minute trip to WDW next weekend. I was surprised to see MVMCP and the Osborne lights will already be happening.

This was supposed to be a trip to celebrate my daughter being accepted into the Disney College Program, but is now becoming an early Christmas celebration as well.

Will the resorts be decorated yet?

Just trying to figure if I should plan a day of visiting resorts.

I know the Candlelight Procession and the AK Jingle Parade don't start until Thanksgiving. I am kind of assuming the same for the resorts?

Thanks in advance

For anyone who is interested, I just remembered that I had the phone number for private dining at the Grand Floridian. They put me through to the front desk. The agenda for THE Gingerbread house is:

11/8 - the house assembly begins.
11/10 - the bakery starts its decorating.
11/15 - it is open to the public.

Most of the park decorations are being loaded in now..

Resorts will follow soon. I don't think they publish a schedule of what resort gets decorated on which evening....but the elves are definitely at work!

And congrats to your daughter! Where is she going to be working?

Thank you. I was hoping to hear from someone who might have an idea.

She will be doing QSFB. I can't even explain how excited she is. She went through a lot of highs and lows. We live it Massachusetts. She got a great scholarship/financial aid package from FAU and is going there now and hating it. Her roommates are MAJOR partiers and she just isn't. She likes to have fun but isn't into the drinking at all. She has three roommates. All three received academic warnings. She on the other hand is in an honors program. Just not much in common.

I was on a cruise and got a text from her when she was accepted. Then I got the text from her that her school said she couldn't do it because she's a freshman. She spent an entire day in bed. When I got back from the cruise I read her e-mail from the school. All it said was, she wouldn't get credit because she's a freshman. When I read it and told her my interpretations she was soooooooo happy. She applied to have her scholarships deferred and they approved it.

I'm a little concerned that she and her CP roommate won't have much in common. I got another text from her that made me laugh. It said, "I got my roommate. Her interests include GoD, mine includes my DoG. Her favorite book is the bible, my favorite book takes place in vatican city. :) " At least the roommate doesn't sound like a partier. :)

Congrats on the last-minute trip!

I've heard, read and somewhat experienced that the resorts are after the parks, but it seems to vary. I know that in 2007, the deluxe resorts were decked out on Thanksgiving day when I arrived, but the values came a few days later.

Have fun!

DOPEYLUVER -that's awesome, last minute trip to Disney! Hope you have a great time.

Bdawgsc - You too. Your trip is in 6 days? :)

Can't wait, my Disney time is coming as well.

A little nervous after working this weekend that I wouldn't be able to make it, but as of 2PM, it is a definite :)

Congrats on her acceptance into the college program. I found it to be wonderful. Roommates can be hit or miss. My apartment went through 13 guys in 5 months (housing for 6). I was the only one who started the term and finished without being dismissed or quitting.

Wow! That's a lot of people! :scared:

I am already researching the College Program for DS, even though he is just a high school freshman. I know he will want to audition for Entertainment. I don't know if he will have any job experience AT ALL before he gets out of high school so that could be an issue. He likely won't have cash handling or customer service experience, so they may have a tough time figuring out where to put him. Unless he goes to Custodial.

Gratz to your daughter and to you for your trip! I'm sure you'll have a great trip!!

Check out the college boards. The custodial people seem to love it.

We had a really nice conversation with one of the college custodial kids on our last trip. He was doing his second round through the program.

DS refuses to pick up cat puke off the carpet with a wad of paper towels, so I think some of the custodial tasks might send him over the edge. Perhaps I can work on him over the next couple of years. :)

My friend works at the Polynesian and I called him today b/c our family is in and wanted to see some Christmas decorations before they leave, but the resorts are not decorated yet, he said after Thanksgiving or closer to that week they will be done. I think the comment about the gingerbread house is pretty accurate to what he said too.... bummer :o)

Got back from WDW last night. Still in Florida and heading back to Massachusetts tomorrow.

Other than the gift shops there were no signs of Christmas at the resorts. The two exceptions were the previously mentioned gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian and while traveling on the monorail, the BIG Mickey Mouse wreath was on the ground waiting to go up.

The Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom was great. The Parade was wonderful. The only thing missing was the Christmas tree. There MAY be decorations missing from some of the lands. I'm oblivious to a lot of things. Main Street was beautiful. The castle is magical with the icicles. And of course the snow...

The Osborne light show was great. My daughter's favorite part of the weekend was the light show. I'm kind of torn between the MK Parade and the dancing lights.

The only sign of Christmas at Epcot was the tree. Our last day there was the last day of the Wine and Food Festival, so that may have changed overnight, or at least during this week.

So I just bought the tickets for my daughter to fly to Florida to begin her Disney College Program. That will be my next trip to see the Mouse.

Thanks everyone for the comments and encouragement on Kelly's acceptance into the program. She is really looking forward to it.
