I'm hoping this is the appropriate board...

I know that each of the WDW resorts is beautifully decorated for the Christmas holidays and we plan to be visiting a few on our trip 12/18 - 12/25 and I would like to see the decorations. The question is where are the best decorations for each resort? I imagine they tend to be in the lobby where they set up the big trees, but if there is something you think is a "must see" and it's not in the lobby, where is it?

So, for the following resorts where are the decorations?
Saratoga Springs? (We're staying here.)
Beach Club?
Polynesian?
Wilderness Lodge?
Boardwalk?
Grand Floridian?
Contemporary?

Any other resort decoration info would be appreciated, I just know that the above mentioned are the ones we'll be visiting for a meal so we'll be there for sure.

Thanks so much! :grouphug:

1.GF-Lobby has a beautiful tree and gingerbread house.
2. Animal Kingdom Lodge-Lobby with giant tree.
3. Wilderness Lodge-same as AKL

Others I havent seen, but these 3 are must sees.

Since you will be in the Boardwalk/Beach Club area, I would suggest stopping by the Dolphin if you have time. There is a beautiful poinsettia tree in the lobby there during the holidays.

Lobby in the Grand Floridian is awesome. As are the lobbies in Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Club.

I think if you want to see Christmas decorations, you won't be disappointed in the lobbies of any of the resorts. We are going for the first time at Christmas, and are really excited about checking out all the deluxes.

I went around to all the resorts last year and took pictures at pretty much all of them. If you'd like a peep, grab a cup of cocoa and some cookies, and click here

Those pictures are amazing. I am so looking forward to spending Christmas at WDW now!! Does anyone have any pictures of the Beach Club, Yacht Club and Boardwalk?

MickeyMac those pix are awesome!!!!! I just booked my trip earlier today it will be our first time at the holidays...looks like I'll definatly be buying a digital camera...124 days and counting!!!!

GF also has (or used to) a gingerbread dollhouse with tiny furniture inside of it set up on a table as you come it from the monorail. I was amazed at the detail of it...especially being a gingerbread house.

Any idea when these great decorations go up? We wiil be there over Thanksgiving, and I want to see these this time!

We went the week of Thanksgiving 2002 (and left WDW the day BEFORE Thanksgiving) and the Christmas decorations were already up everywhere. We also got to see the Osburne Spectacle of Lights at MGM...VERY COOL!

So you should be surrounded by Christmas decorations when you go.

Danauk, they are in that link.

Thanks for the great feedback on the pictures. I use the close ups of the trees as desktop backgrounds. I love the holidays at Disney. :D

Briarmom, they start going up mid-November, some resorts at the beginning of the month. They do the resorts first, then the park stuff goes up a bit more dramatically, closer to Thanksgiving.

Beautiful pictures! I can't wait now until our Dec trip to see them in person!

Thanks so much for the information!! I really enjoyed looking at your photos, MickeyMac! You've got some great detailed shots! I can hardly wait to be there! I remember Thanksgiving 2003, we could see all the decorations and they were beautiful, but I didn't realized just how much there is to see. Since we plan to eat at several of the resorts I thought it'd be nice to walk around afterward and see the decorations. I remember the Grand Floridian gingerbread house...oh! It smelled so good! And we were at the AKL, and the entire scene done in chocolate was amazing! I can't wait!!! Thanks again!

Thank you. I love looking at them, when I need a Disney fix. It's fun trying to remember where each one was taken. I can't wait to go back this Christmas and take more. :D

Sweet pics! I was planning on just stopping at a couple of the resorts but now I think we r going to try and get all of them! Those were kool!

Thanks Mickeymac for sharing those wonderful pics! we won't get to see the decor on our next trip-arriving 1/7;but we'll get to see them for our trip after that-arriving 12/27/06. Yippeee!!! Thanks again.
