Any information on who will be present/performing at the Christmas Day parade at the magic kingdom? Usually Regis Philbin hosts...what other celebrities will be there, any ideas? PLUS- this is our first christmas at WDW, on christmas morning, since we have our park tickets...are we guaranteed to get into the park on that morning, or do we have to rise with the roosters to get in since it's so crowded? I am not sure how that works since we're not staying on property. Thank you for any insight you can provide.

That Christmas Day Parade you see on TV is taped first weekend of December. :goodvibes :wave2: :wizard:

Hi...it's my understanding that Christmas Day at MK can be very crowded. If you opt for a different park that day...you won't have to be out of your hotel so early.

The MK will probably fill to capacity by noon on Christmas Day. If you are determined to fight the crowds, get there when it opens. If you are staying on Disney property, you are guaranteed to get into A PARK, not necessarily the one you want and MK will be full. Good luck and have a Magical Christmas!

You may be out of luck if you don't get to the park early that day. Because you are not staying on the WDW property, you are not guaranteed entry into any park that day. That goes for any of the days from Christmas to New Years since some if not all of the parks usually close down at different times of the day.

That is correct. The parade you see on TV is filmed the first week of December...Not on Christmas morning. The parade on Christmas day will be the Christmas parade, but it will not have any celebrities, Regis/Kelly, etc. It will just be the parade as it is presented every other day the week leading up to Christmas (and at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party).

This year the "Christmas Parade" will have a very special group performing: the DCI Honor Corps. For more info on this awesome group, go to DCI HONOR CORPS

Yes the Drum Corp will be a part of the Christmas parade that is aired on ABC on Christmas morning but that portion of the parade is also being filmed the first week of December, not on Christmas morning. http://www.dci.org/corps/honor/ it will be filmed December 1-4 :)

Hey guys
Some questions we are planning on being there from Nov30 -5 I read that they will be filming the parade Is it hard to into the the park on those days
Do they film on different days
My duaghter would love to see some one famous

let me put it to you this way, by 10 o'clock on christmas day, every parking space at the MK is taken :earseek: Christmas is busier than the 4th of July (or so I have heard) and the year I was there, if you weren't in the park by 10:30 you were out of luck.

Filming of the parade is to scheduled for December 1-4 (that could change of course). The celebrity acts that are presented are not necessarily filmed on those days they are filmed whenever the celebrity is avaliable before Christmas day and they are usually filmed throughout property, not necessarily at MK.

It is not hard to get into MK on the days of filming, BUT it is not the ideal place to be, main street becomes a mad house. They do not film the parade straight through. What they do is they bring one float up to Main Street at a time and bring it up the street, back it up and film it over and over before sending it on it's way and brining the next float up. It is not glamorous and can be quite boring for a child. Generally it takes ALL day to film a few floats and then start all over the next day. It usually takes 3 days to film everything (they have the extra day scheduled for reshoots and weather delays). The crowd that lines Main Street as the spectators is generally picked before hand as they are there for the entire filming (they usually have a web page to sign up for it), it is not just random people that stop and sit. They will have audience control keeping everyone else moving through the area. It is quite a lengthy and time consuming process.

Can anyone tell me where to sign up so we can be in the crowd allowed to watch the taping of the parade. I see someone wrote that you can not just show up and sit and I remember last year people talking about a sign up but I'm not sure where.

I wish I knew DCI Corps was marching in the MVMCP on Dec 2nd I would of bought tickets for that night. I already have them for the Dec 1st....boo hoo.I'm a past colorguard member (for 7 years) and DD is just starting guard and would of been awesome to see on Main St.

ANy help on the parade taping would be welcomed.

Lori;
Did you happen to march in Avant Garde? My sister and parents were with them for a couple of years.

I marched with North Syracuse Northmen in the Cicero-North Syracuse school district. I wanted to join the Syracuse Brigadiers after high school but got married instead....stupid move..lol The Brigs are in the DCI but not sure at wha tlevel. Yhey are have lots of financial problems so I do not think they are on the fielding a corp this year.

ANyway..does anyone know where to find out when the sign up for extras for the parade taping will be???

Thanks,
Lori

We have gone to Disney the last three years for Christmas Day (and will be there again this year!!! :goodvibes) MK does fill to capacity quickly, but we went when the park opened and got in without a problem. The wait times are incredibly long, and you need to camp out for a few hours if you want a decent spot to watch the parade. However, as magical as Disney is every day, Christmas Day is AMAZING!!!! There are no words to describe the atmosphere and excitement! Also, they will usually reopen MK mid-afternoon/early evening as the crowd thins out a bit. The other parks were busy, but not nearly as crowded, and they didn't close when we were there. (We rotated through a different park each year.) As far as the parade taping - I did the Disney Honor Band way-back-when... we taped for two days for a little 2-3 minute segment in the parade. Very cool!!! :goodvibes Some of the park guests did not seem to appreciate our efforts, though, because it does cause a bit of a hassle on main street and a few other areas during taping. We went one day in December last year when they happened to be filming. They just picked people at random as they were coming in and asked if they wanted to be in the crowd shots. There was a roped off area for those people to stand, wave, cheer, etc. If you want to be in the crowd, wear something Christmas-y and smile alot as you go in the park. :teeth: Hope that helps! THanks for this thread - I'm getting excited about this year!!!

If you are in the park the day of the taping that encourage you to participate. You just find a spot along the sidewalk on Main St. They make announcements every so often about this. You are free to stay for awhile and move on or be there all day.
