Christmas Day Parade Filming Date?

I would get there as early as possible as the parade will most likely start filiming early in the day. I believe I heard that Bryant Gumble may be appearing.

I can't go either as it's a blackout day and my DD has a softball game and then a birthday party.

Rumor has it that they want a lot of guests lining Main St. so even if you are blacked out you might get in? I don't know if this is true, but it's what I heard. Wish I could go and see for myself.

Have fun everyone that can go. I guess this means the holiday decorations will be up by the 8th. DD and I might be able to go on Friday, the 7th. I'm still deciding on it.

The dancers in the parade have been told the 8th and they are to arrive at DL by 7 a.m.

Cool! Thanks! :thumbsup2

A coworker of mine is going this weekend. She'll want to know what's going on. I'm sure the crowds will be super that day.

We were there for the filming last year and there were very low crowds. It was actually one of the best days we've ever had at DL, and we go A L O T! I don't think many people know about it, except for a minimal amount of locals. It's in between the Halloween and Christmas celebrations, so not a whole lot of people have vacations planned for that time of year.

Add to the parade filming, the fact that it is Bat Weekend (official day is Sunday, but there are still folks in the park) - that means the crowds will be extremely low.

We are planning on being there!

So they pull out the Christmas floats for that one day? Then go back to the Parade of Dreams the next day until the 21st?

The Christmas Parade floats are at the ready because they are prepping them for their performances beginning 11/21. So technically, yes ~ they pull them out for just that one day since the Parade of Dreams isn't scheduled to go dark until 11/13.

Here's the information I currently have:

There will be a Performance taping in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on 8 November. I don't know who will be performing, though.

The Parade Floats for the "A Christmas Fantasy" Parade will be filmed on Main Street U.S.A. from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m..

So, if I am thinking clearly, (and that's a big if! :rotfl: )this means that the decorations will be up and ready by the 8th? That would be great!

Actually, the decorations probably won't be up by then. If I remember last year correctly, they just film the floats in a manner that you don't really see much of Main Street at all, thus eliminating the need for the decorations to be up.

When is this parade televised; Christmas Day??

Yep, it will be televised on Christmas Day morning on ABC (local listings might vary).

Well, that's kind of a bummer. Is it my imagination, or is Nov 21st, just really late for them to get everything going?:confused3 It seems like the decorations and everything should be up well before then. Maybe my memory is off, though.

was there this evening and saw them setting it all up and getting it ready. They said it will be taped in the morning. They didn't know who was playing either. there is a set in front of main st, where the Tree will be. and in front of the castle.

also, lines and crowds were dead! screamin was walk on, and TSMM was 15 mins

I was there yesterday and the filming and stages are all set up and ready to film today. They will film segments all day from 8:30-3, but many will have no music playing with the floats. It won't be like the actual parade. All are welcome and if you have holiday hats and clothes they appreciate it if you wear them. The tree and decorations are not up until next week, so they film a little bit at a time and piece it all together for Christmas morning. We are going at 8am this morning for a couple of hours. :santa:

We were there last night as well. Disappointed that more decorations weren't up. But some were. The castle is decorated but no tree. We never got off Main St. so can't say about other areas. We didin't arrive until about 6:30 and went to DCA until closing (8 p.m.) Then we had dinner at Jazz Kitchen and got into DL about 9:15 for fireworks. Unfortunately, due to adverse wind conditions the fireworks were cancelled at about 9:40 :confused3 I really wanted to see them but I really felt bad for the famly visiting from Australia. It was there last night and the little girl said she'd never seen fireworks before. I felt so bad for her.

At DCA there were some decorations up as well. The Golden Gate bridge is decorated. There were lights up on the statues at the entrance to Hollywood Studios but they weren't lit. The decorations were also up in the area by Mission Tortilla Factory. Also, CALIFORNIA out front is now wearing it's red and white stripes and the C and A have Mickey and Goofy on them. That's all we saw.

While DLR may not have been crowded during the day, of course it was packed by fireworks time and after they were cancelled Main St. was packed. We were going to try to ride Space Mountain, but that wasn't an original idea. So we sat for awhile and walked over to check out Pixie Hollow-closed at night. Then we checked out the castle and took a few pictures of the stage, etc. We then walked down a now less crowded Main St. and after exiting I took a picture of each of the letters in front of DCA. Grabbed a tram, and headed home. It was 10:30 by the time we reached the parking structure.
