Christmas Day? New Year's Eve?

We are heading to Disney and Universal for the week of Christmas. I am trying to determine what would be the best park for Christmas Day and New Year's Eve? The classic Magic Kingdom come to mind but those will be super crowded? It will be me, DH, DS age 14, and DD age 10. All of us have been to Disney before except my husband - this is a first for him. Anyway, want to have a special Christmas day with a nice traditional dinner but am behind on making reservations as husband just surprised us with the trip. Have been at Christmas time but never on Christmas day. Please give the best advice as to where to spend Christmas Day and New Year's Eve please between the Disney 4 parks or the 2 Universal parks. Also dinner ideas would be great, too. Thanks.

We were in Epcot on Christmas day last year and it was doable. Personally, I wouldn't go near MK on Christmas or New Year's. We were there on Dec. 29 last year and even then it was way too crowded for me. We had Christmas dinner at Trattoria al Forno on the Boardwalk. It wasn't a traditional Christmas dinner, but having dinner at a resort (as opposed to a park) was wonderful. It wasn't overly crowded and then we spent the evening watching the entertainment on the Boardwalk which was lovely. I would definitely recommend eating dinner at a resort restaurant.

Dec 30th do MK: will be crowded but not as crowded as NYE. They shoot their NYE fireworks off on Dec 30th and 31st

NYE do Epcot: MK will be reaching phased closures and will be a nightmare to get to and leave. Epcot will be crowded but you'll be fine to show up whenever. It's bigger so won't feel as crowded as MK will. They have multiple dance parties in countries, extra drink and food stands, fireworks at 6:30, and then their NYE fireworks are the best I've ever seen.

We do this and it's nice to be able to see both MK and epcots NYE fireworks. If you do this plan, then I'd do universal for Christmas.
