I booked a surprise trip for DW and I, we're leaving on Dec 26th, driving 2020 miles and checking in on the 28th, out on January 4th and home by the 6th! She has no clue that we're going anywhere, let alone WDW! I'm wondering about ideas on how to surprise her. One idea I had was to wrap up a Pal Mickey that we have with a note saying, "I have to go home right away!" and giving that to her on Christmas day.

I had also thought about making Christmas day just a normal Christmas day and have all the excitement about that die down so she thinks it's life as usual starting the 26th, then wake her up really early on the 26th with breakfast and tell her to start packing! I'd want to leave the city by 8am at the very latest, so I'd really have to wake her up crazy early to get out of town by then! I'm trying to think of how much stress that would put on her, having a couple of hours to pack absolutely everything she needs for a 12 day trip.I could easily have her camera and ipod all charged, as well as some entertainment for the ride down, so she would just need to take care of the rest. Hmmm...

Any thoughts? How would you react to waking up when it's still dark outside to be told you're going to be leaving the house in a few hours to drive for 16-20 hours straight? :rotfl:

Tell her on Christmas morning. That way she'll have a day to pack and plan, including time to call her friends and gloat -- I mean cancel any plans that she had made with them for the days that you will be gone.

Since it's for your wife I would tell her Christmas morning, so she has time to get everything she wants packed and ready to go.

If my SO surprised me the day of, I would be so stressed out! So, I'd vote against that option.

I'd say do it Christmas morning or even Christmas eve. Tell her you'd like her to open one of her gifts early because you just can't wait and give her the wrapped Pal Mickey. That's a very cute idea, btw.

Wow that's amazing! Tell her on Christmas Day morning so she has more time to prepare.
