The Rennaisance.....I seem to remember this place is highly recommended for Christmas Lunch. Is this still the case??

Ed

Any off Disney, Christmas eatery recommendations would be most welcome!

Can anyone help Mr Ed?

Ed, I have to say when we were in Florida over Xmas we had moved to the coast for Xmas Day etc. Wherever you go, I really recommend booking in advance :)

What is your budget and who is in your party (adults & children?). Where will you be based or will you be happy to drive?

I have read excellent reports of various eateries at the Gaylord Resort but not tried myself.

Miffy, thanks for that. 2 adults, 11 y.o.son and 8 y.o.daughter. Don't mind travelling, we are staying in Kissimmee area.

Had Christmas Dinner 2003 at Boma AKL. Unfortunately, it was very busy(surprise) and we didn't enjoy it. That's put us off trying a disney restaurant on xmas day this time.

Hi Ed,

I know where you are coming from with the busy and Xmas Day and Disney thing - I think you are right that a lot of places will be heaving.

There was a thread a while ago which I am going to look out for you. This had people's "best" offsite dining choices.

I wish I could help more but for a Xmas Day I could give you good ideas at WDW but my experience offsite is limited to the less exclusive ;) "think Denny's, IHOP, Perkins etc. Though I really like Bahama Breeze & Outback & Olive Garden which are more "upmarket" !

Here's a link to the restayrants at Gaylord I mentioned above and I will try and find the thread I mentioned above as that had lots of suggestions (probably too many, LOL)

Ed, this thread here has some great suggestions - it does start off talking about onsite dining but moves into offsite and there are lots of great ideas!

The other thing I would suggest is either editing the tilte of this thread or starting a new thread with "Christmas Day Dining Suggestions" or something like that, you may find you get more responses as sometimes people don't open a thread if they don't think they can contribute to it - so if they weren't familar with "the Renaisance" they may not have seen the rest of this thread.

I'm just conscious it would be good to get some opinions other to mine :teeth:

Cheers

Karen

Yes, the Renaissance would be highly recommened, but you should book early, i.e. right away! Most good hotels will have special Xmas menus for that day, and other good choices would be The Gaylord Palms, Omni Rosen Center, The Caribe Royale. Omni Resort at Champions Gate, Grande Lakes Resort, Wyndham Palace and the Swan/Dolphin resorts.

Title changed on your expert advice Karen (Miffy2003).

GayLord Palms seems a good shout!

Ed

I am keeping an eye on this thread, because we fly out on the 20th Dec and come back on the 6th Jan. We have been trying to decide if we want to eat out or cook a 'traditional' dinner at home. We are staying in a villa so cooking isn't a problem, it's just clearing up that is the problem :crazy2:
