Okay, I need help from all you creative and wonderful people. Since we surprised the kids last year with the 4 night cruise, I need to shake it up this year since we're surprising them with the 1/3/04 7 night cruise. (Last year I had their tickets wrapped up in 3 different size boxes that they opened up last.) I was thinking about doing some kind of treasure hunt tied with the Pirates of the Carribean movie that is coming out. I figured that the last stop would be a copy of the movie with a printout of the tickets or something inside. I found the words to the Yoho Yoho A pirates life for me song and will include that some how. Anybody have any suggestions on how to carry this out. Help!!!!!!!

I am not creative, but I just wanted what fun!!!l
Just be careful, your kids are going to be expecting a cruise every year at Christmas!!! (will you adopt me?)

I LOVE the treasure hunt idea! Very fitting. Or... if you draw well, you could draw some clues(or cut them from magazines)...wrap them individually...and let them guess their gift. My honey did that to me once! Of course, it was a surprise trip to Disney!

I have also booked a surprise cruise for my Mom this Christmas. I called her boss and arranged the time off. Now I have to figure out how I am going to present it to her. I am contemplating not even telling her where we are going...She can figure it out when she sees the Port of Miami! I love giving (and of course receiving) surprises!

What an incredibly cool gift for your mom.

I am planning something similar for my 2 boys for our Wonder 2/12 cruise.
I bought a great wooden treasure chest at Marshall's. I am going to make either a treasure map or a big sign about the cruise. put that on tagboard and laminate it..then cut it into puzzle pieces. Have a hunt for the puzzle clues (each with some disney like treat) thru the house linked from something disney on the Christmas tree. (maybe a mickey mini stocking ornament) last one will be the treasure chest with gold chocolate coins inside of it --with the last puzzle piece and the video of the cruise. I will also have countdown calendars made for them.

Even tho they are 12 & 15 both are big Disney fans and have always wanted to go on a Disney cruise.

Y'all are too darn COOL!!!!

What lucky kids (and moms) you have! My dh always jokes about how he doesn't need to worry about surprises because I can never keep my surprises a secret....

Already I can't stop talking about our Disney cruise which isn't even until NEXT December!

Pretty impressive that you all can stay mum on such a big thing!

I am trying to figure out the same thing. My daughter is 16 and we have given her the 7 day Eastern trip 2 years ago for Christmas. Last year it was a week at disney with her best friend and Grandmother. Now this year it will be 7 day Western (1-17-04) with another friend....and I was thinking of trying to do a "Clue of the day" with the 12 days of Christmas (she gets a little something everyday for the 12 days before Christmas) and then give her the tickets for Christmas.

Any help would be appriecated!!!
We have been to Disney about 16 times in the past 7 years and 3 cruises in the last 3 years so the clues need to be kind of tough ones!!!

Any takers?????
thanks
Cyndi

Oh..I am very good at keeping secrets. Maybe too good. I was actually considering a blindfold for her on the way to the port!

I have decided that the only thing I will reveal on Christmas is the fact that we are going on a trip "somewhere" in the near future. The day before, I will tell her to pack for 5days and offer some packing advice. She won't know exactly where she is going until we get on the boat!

OOOHHHH I like that idea~~but I don't know if I could keep it from her that long. She would notice me getting things ready to go...so I guess I will probley have to let her know at christmas

but thanks....I really like that idea!

It's killing me that I can't talk about it with the kids. My husband isn't big on discussing our travel plans prior to vacations, so I have no one to discuss it with. Thank god for these boards!!!
