Wondering if anyone has started making cookies yet. What kind?

Not sure when, but the first ones I'm going to make are the peanut butter Hershey Kiss ones.

My wife and I made 30 dozen for a local charity sale event - I made peanut butter cookies and my wife made a new type of sugar cookie. We will be making the cookies for family next weekend.

I've made red and green M&M cookies (so yummy!) and Christmas funfetti cookies (cheated and used the funfetti cake mix...).

Next, I'm doing peanut butter and hershey kisses, too!

I'll probably start next week... Peanut Butter Bites, Tollhouse & M&M, and Red Velvet cookies.

I made a batch of the orange creamsicle cookies for a gathering last night...they were really good! I'll have to make another batch of those babies!

I also made a batch of "puppy chow", but I'm sure it will be long gone by Christmas!

Nope, none....DH will probably start soon...we want to have some made for when his parents get in on the 15th

What is puppy chow?

Yes, Friday is my annual Cookie Exchange and I have 20 participants this year!:scared1:Yesterday I baked 10 doz. of Choco-Caramel delights which are sort of like a turtle type cookie. Very yummy, but a lot of work.

Starting Tuesday afternoon and will probably bake for the rest of the week.

This years are:
Stir and Drop Sugar Cookies
Orangy cutouts
Chocolate Cherry
Oatmeal Cranberry
Mint chocolate nanaimo bars
candy cane cookies
gingersnaps
chocolate chip cheesecake cookies
lemon graham bars
and fudge

I have baked a single batch of six different cookies. They are all in the freezer. We do sneak a few now and then.;)

Yup. Unfortunately, in a house with 5 kids and numerous friends in and out all the time, they never last until Christmas. That's ok, though, as I enjoy baking, and trying out new things on the kids.

So far, I've made:

Chocolate Chocolate Chip
Gingerbread Men
Cleta Bailey's Toffee Squares

What I still need to try:

Root Beer Float Cookies
Brown Sugar Snickerdoodles (tomorrow)
Chocolate and Peppermint Bark Cookies

Once they get the ok from family, I'll make large batches and then make up tins of cookies, peanut brittle and fudge for family members and my kids friends for Christmas presents.

How are the funfetti cookies?

Are you willing to share your red velvet cookie recipe? :)

I'm going to a cookie swap next week - each year I make the no-bake Oreo Truffles. They are always a hit. :thumbsup2

For home, I'll probably make the peanut butter blossoms this week, and my caramel cookies over the weekend.

They're delicious! Here it is:

Choco-Caramel Delights

2/3 c. sugar 1 c. finely chopped pecans
½ c. butter or margarine, caramel filling (recipe follows)
Softened
½ c . semi-sweet choc. chips
or choc. chunks
1 egg, separated
1 tsp. shortening
2 tbsp. Milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/3 c. Hershey’s cocoa
¼ tsp. salt

In small mixer bowl, beat sugar, butter, egg yolk, milk and vanilla until blended. Stir together flour, cocoa and salt; blend into butter mixture. Chill dough at least 1 hour or until firm enough to handle.

Preheat oven to 350*F. Lightly grease cookie sheets. Beat egg white slightly. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Dip each ball into egg white; roll in pecans to coat. Place 1 inch apart on prepared cookie sheet. Press thumb gently in center of each ball.

Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until set. While cookies bake, prepare caramel filling. Press center of each cookie again with thumb to make indentation. Immediately spoon about ½ tsp. caramel filling in center of each cookie. Carefully remove to wire racks to cool completely.

In small microwave-safe bowl combine chocolate chips and shortening. Microwave at HIGH (100%) 1 minute or until softened; stir. Allow to stand several minutes to finish melting; stir until smooth. Place waxed paper under wire racks with cookies. Drizzle chocolate mixture over top of cookies.

Makes about 2 dozen cookies.

Caramel Filling: In small saucepan, combine 14 unwrapped light caramels and 3 tbsps. whipping cream. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently until caramels are melted and mixture is smooth.
