Having a hard time getting info from Universal. Anyone know about the Christmas concerts on Sundays? We'll be there for Dec. 5 with Manheim Steamroller. The park closes at 6p, so what time could this concert be? Do these concerts make the park jammed? Is it worth going?

I believe the concerts are on Saturdays, not Sundays (Dec. 5 is a Saturday, and I believe Chirs Issakl is Dec. 12).

The park was fairly packed for Manheim Steamroller last year, but they were forced to play in a corner of the NY street, which didn't help. The new stage should help spread the crowd out more. Parade probably starts at 6, meaning concert should start around 6:30ish, if I recall correctly.

I saw that they were playing. Is it an extra fee, or is it part of your admission for these concerts? I have never been to Universal for Christmas, but we are planning on going this year. We are deciding between the 5th or 6th.

Any thoughts?

Thanks Jason for the correction as the concerts are on Saturdays.

Universal's website posts that the parks will close at 6pm...but the concert will start after that? Last year, how long was the concert? I'm just trying to plan our days, and no one at Universal seems to know anything about the concerts when I call.

The concert is after park closing and usually last about an hour or so.

Thanks, Metro West. Now two more questions:

1. Any strategy as to how to when & where to go to best enjoy the concert?

2. We're staying on property so will have FOTL access, but will the concert result in particularly heavy crowds in the parks that day? Do we need to employ a serious touring strategy?

Thanks for your feedback.

1. The concerts will be in the new stage area and it's plenty big but the concerts usually draw a large crowd. When you see people start staking out a place, I would head on over.

2. I doubt the crowds will be too bad in the mornings but depending on who's playing that night, the park will get crowded towards the afternoon hours. Try to do what you want in the morning and then use the afternoon to relax before the concert.

I have one more question on this topic too. We plan to go to the concert on Dec. 12, but are heading to Disapalooza afterwards at DHS. Do they have the Macy's parade before the concert or is the parade not held on concert nights? Just trying to figure out timing for leaving to head over to Disney.

Well ... I know that there will be a parade on December 12th, because my daughter is marching it it with her baton group! (Let's hope it's not freezing like last year when she marched.) So, I would think the parade would be at the regular time and then the concert will be after park close, like a PP mentioned. Darn - I wish we were going to be there the previous week. Manheim Steamroller would be great to see!

The concerts will be similar in setup to the Mardi Gras setup. The parade will be first, then the concert will start shortly after. All concerts are INCLUDED with park admission.

Thanks everyone, that helps out a lot. Any idea what time the parade and concerts typically get over?

The Macy's parade starts at 5:00 PM and lasts about 20 minutes sometimes a little longer depending on the wind conditions.

Where is the new stage? We went last year for Steamroller and it was crazy with them playing in the corner. It was soooooo crowded.

Oh, I'd LOVE to see/hear Chris Isaak....my family is sooooooo tired of me playing his Christmas CD over & over again! :rotfl:
