If you had to choose only one, which would you choose and why?

1. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
2. Dinner package for Candlelight Processional

Good question. I look forward to reading answers. I have not done either, but here are my thoughts, any way.

Party = seven hours of fun

Dinner package = you are paying extra cost for food in order to wait a shorter time in line and be guaranted a seat for CP, a 40 performance. I can see a similar retelling of the Christmas story at home.

My vote is for the party.

I am curious to know what you decide!
Good luck, and I hope you have a great time, whatever you chose. :goodvibes

First off, you don't mention if there is anyone attending with you...
I personally would pay the $ for the MVMCP. you will have 8 hours of pure delight in the MK
then on another evening, go to Epcot and find a place to watch and listen to CP. That is how we watched it last year. We found a spot right behind the last row of seats and then when it was over we were well on our way while everyone else was waiting to get out

I had to make that choice this year, never being to either and I decided on the party...why?? I've been to WDW before at Christmas and I love the decorations in MK....however my daughter does not remember, plus we are taking my DGD with us and I think she would enjoy that much more.

Just being in Disney World for Christmas is awesome! Our vote is for the Candlelight dinner package. You can get a lovely dinner and a special show that has been around since Walt himself! :goodvibes

I did MVMCP last December, but didn't do the Candlelight Processional, therefore my opinion is a little one-sided, but we loved the Christmas Party. We got some great pictures, and the lines for the rides were awesome. We walked on Space Mountain 4 times. We went on a Tuesday night, so the parks weren't as crowded. We're planning on doing it again this year! But I'm sure you'll have a great time either way!

I love the candlelight processional and if I could go to disney for one day only and got to do one thing it would be the processional...that being said...in your shoes I would pick the party. I would then wait in line for the processional. Would it be a long line yes but it would be worth it because you get to do both things.

Now if was either or because you only had one night there - it would depend on who was with you and ages etc.

I have done the MVMCP and I saw the Candlelight processsional (by just waiting in line).

I would choose the Christmas Party because we had lots of fun, the MK was less crowded, we downed about 5 cups of hot chocolate and cookies (each!), and like Mainegal said, we can see a similar telling of the Christmas Story at home, it was nice though.

Thanks for the advice! My husband and I are planning trip in early December. I've been to The World for other holidays, but this will be my first time to see Christmas!

I predict that you will enjoy the holiday decor and music all over all the parks and resorts.

Resort hop the deluxes. Don't miss the Osborne lights at Hollywood Studios.

There are a ton of sweet romatic moment you can create during the party. Annie and I went to MVMCP in 2008 when she was a few months preggo with our sone Lane. Had a great time. Disney during Christmas is stunning. Holiday wishes was great.

MVMCP. The CP is nothing that can't be found in any decent sized city in the US all through December (minus the celebrity readers). You overpay for the dining plan seating, the show is long, can be cold, not covered if raining, etc. I'd much rather go to a Christmas show back home on my own time and spend my WDW time doing things I can only do in WDW.

Having done both in the past, however, we are doing neither this year. We're going to V&A's instead. Other option would have been a tour (probably Epcot Segway tour).

You all have me counting the days now! Decided to splurge on both. We have reservations for Candlelight Processional the last night Jodi Benson is narrating. I can't wait to see/hear the Little Mermaid! We'll do Mickeys Party the next night. Dinner at Columbia Restaurant in Celebration the night after that because it's my husbands favorite, then Osborne Family Lights.

As mentioned, you can see the Candlelight Processional without paying for the (IMO) overpriced dinner package. I've gone to the Christmas party 6 years, and it has gotten more crowded each year. However, I think the Christmas party is worth doing once.
