Christmas Budget - XBox 360

I'm looking to purchase an Xbox 360 for my son. I have been online looking all morning and my head is swimming with numbers and specs. I really have no idea what I'm doing. I was thinking with the release of the Xbox One the prices on the 360 would plummet. Hasn't happened.

Anyone had luck with refurbished consoles? I would normally buy an new console, but he also needs a new TV and I'm trying to not go over budget this year. Has anyone seen any great deals on new/used consoles?

Hopefully this link will work. On Black Friday Target has the Xbox 360 for $179 with Kinect and 3 games. There's a pretty good chance walmart or best buy will have it even cheaper.

No help on the refurbished issue but I'd skip the bargain at Target - it only has 4GB of memory. Since your kids are teens that amount of memory would be gone in about 30 minutes of opening the box and setting it up maybe less. If you are going to go with a XBox 360 for a teen spend the money and get the larger memory. Also, look at the kinds of games they are going to play before investing in the Kinect. My kids don't have the Kinect and have never ever requested or wished for it. For them it would be an absolute waste. They play primarily first person shooter games, role play games, minecraft and driving games.

Best Buy usually has a pretty sweet deal on the bundles with the larger memory right around Christmas. I got the system with larger memory, a version of Halo, a download game, 3 months of xBox Live for less than the price Target is asking for the system with Kinect.

Also plan on investing in a headset (@$40 for a cheap one), extra handset (another $40) and extra months of xBox Live ($24 for three months).

I was thinking of getting the Xbox 360 with connect for my 6 year old. We have horrible internet connection where downloading won't be able to happen. Would the 4g one work for him, we would just have to buy the games as disks? I too have no idea how these things work? Thanks
