Hi ;)

Well... My mom, grandmom and I are spending our Christmas eve in DL and we have booked a table at the Orleans Cafe.

When I booked the table, I got really confused and the connection was really bad
(I'm from Denmark, so my english is not fluent and I was calling by Skype, so we lost the connection sometimes...)

The man I spoke with asked questions and then he asked if we were celebrating an annivesary or birthday. I just answered a quick no, because of my confusion, but we are actually kind of celebrating my grandmom's 80th birthday - she is turning 80 earlier in December, but our trip to California, is kind of a gift.....

Now I am just wondering, what is the difference? Do we get a cake or something? Is it something I can buy? I'm just thinking about calling again and tell that we are celebrating a 80th birthday - my grandmom would be thrilled about some special treatment:lmao:

So main question! - What is a birthday at Cafe Orleans?? Is it worth it, is it fun, would it be an excperience for my old granma'?

Thanks a lot :santa:

We went there for DH's birthday a few years ago. They brought out one beignet with some colorful sprinkles and a candle on top. You do not get a cake or even a piece of cake. It was a nice suprise, but it may or may not happen. I think it depends on your server. Make sure to stop and get her a birthday button at City Hall or a customer service area (or some stores have them too). They are free and you can just ask for one. If she is wearing that, it will increase your odds of getting a small birthday dessert. I was going to post a picture but I forgot my photobucket password and can't find it.

I was just there Tuesday and a group next to us had a birthday. They got the birthday beignet PinkBudgy described with a bunch of whipped cream on the side of the beignet. It looked really good. The little girl was wearing a birthday button.

You can mention you are celebrating her birthday when you check in, too, or I believe you can order a cake in advance (which is a bit expensive). http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1536554 is a thread about cakes. :)

Have a great trip!

I'd call back AND mention it at check in, but I tend to be an over confirmer.

Thanks a lot all of you ;)

I have now called Disney Dining (again!:rolleyes1)
And mentioned both that my grandmom has a wheelcahir (so that they know to make room for it...) and that she is turning 80, and the man I spoke to, said that they would do something special with a cake or some other thing.. so I hope that my grandmom gets surprised and happy :)

If any of you have any other comments/experience I would still like to hear about it... And also a picture :thumbsup2

We will go to the City Hall and get the birthday botton :)

Yes, make sure you get the birthday button!! We are going next weekend (Fri-Mon) and we will probably get DD11 a birthday button, her actual birthday is Dec 15th so we will be a bit early but that's OK, they won't mind and DD will enjoy the birthday wishes she gets. :) We've been able to celebrate 6 birthdays at DLR over past few years (1 year we went for all our birthdays!!) and we've noticed that sometimes you don't get the birthday dessert but your Grandma will get loads of birthday wishes, both from CM's and from guests (DD11 always says Happy Birthday when she sees someone with a button) which will make her trip very special. Also, she is allowed to wear the button the whole trip if she wants to, our first birthday trip (DD11's 8th birthday) DD wore her button all weekend long. :)
