What is it like?
My family, all 9 of us have decided to do WDW Christmas 2015. Because of time we must fly and will probably stay at AoA due to the cost of Flying. We will fly in Christmas day for a week.

My questions are:
Which resort has the best Christmas decorations?
What are the special in park activities to do or see?
How long are the decorations up after Christmas?
What is Christmas weather like?
And room set up at AoA - room 1-2persons room 2-3 persons room 3-4 persons(need 3 or 4 beds. All Preferred.

We were at CBR in June and after all that heat DGrandma and I want to try cooler weather.

1. GF and WL have the most elaborate decorations. AKL also looks amazing. But all of them will have some decorations up.
2. Great decorations. Special parades and (?)fireworks at MK. Christmas themed parade at AK. Some of the characters in Christmas costumes. Some Christmas type snacks to buy. OODLES of Christmas themed stuff to buy.
3. Decorations start coming down a couple of days after New Years.
4. Variable- coolish to mid 70's. Cools down in the evenings.
5. ??Not sure what you're asking here. AoA standard rooms (little mermaid) have 2 double beds with a limit of 4 people. Family suites will sleep 6. I don't believe there is a preferred room option at this resort.

I would go on the AoA thread or look at the AoA information on this website to get more information about how they are set up.

Thanks for your answer but AoA does not have a FAQ thread and info like you have at POR and others is not easy to find. Hope someone puts a thread together.

Minnie mum - Thanks for all the info!

We visit WDW for two weeks every other year for Christmas. The week before and the week between Christmas and New Years. That second week is absolutely, insanely, horrendously (insert more adverbs) busy.

The weather has been 30 degrees and 80 degrees. There does not seem to be a norm for that time of year. It can be 30 on Monday and 80 on Friday. If I had to pick an average temp, I would go with mid 60's.

Decorations at all of the resorts are gorgeous. We always take a day and visit a bunch. The Grand Floridian is a must as they have a life size gingerbread house. Beach Club has a carousel made out of gingerbread as well. Amazing, gorgeous. The decorations all stick with the resort theme, Africa, North West, Caribbean, etc.

Special Events: There is the Candlelight Processional at Epcot which I highly recommend. There is the Osbourne Lights at Hollywood Studios, these are a do not miss.

Decorations begin going up before Thanksgiving and stay up until early January.

I don't know anything about AoA!

Which resort has the best Christmas decorations?
Grand Floridian has a huge tree and a life sized gingerbread house that they sell gingerbread shingles out of

What are the special in park activities to do or see?
Magic Kingdom-
The decorations and snow on Main St. are not to be missed.
EPCOT-
The story tellers in each nation tell of their Winter holidays and every nation is decorated individually. Joyful at the stage by the Pavillions, has some really nice gospel music. Plus it is home to the Candlelight Processional
MGM-
2 words... Osbourne Lights. Your jaw will drop and the hairs on the back of your neck will tingle

How long are the decorations up after Christmas?
The split second that MNSSHP ends, the Xmas decos start going up. All the parks and resorts should be fully decorated by the first MVMCP (caveat... The Xmas Tree at the beginning of Main St. is removed during filming of the Christmas Parade and replaced after) and are usually up through the 1st week in Jan.

What is Christmas weather like?
In 2010, I was in a hockey jersey and BDLsgal was in a wind breaker for most of the week. In 2012, I had to change shirts regularly cuz I was sweating through them. Take your pick.

Have you thought about POR? You can put 5 in 1 room and 4 in another. It may be crowded, but may also be a little cheaper. And the grounds at POR are amazing. Plus there is a water cab to DTD

You must be from Antarctica! It would be 2010 when it was absolutely frigid the days after Christmas. Water parks were closed, flowers were covered to protect them from frost and it was 28 degrees at the Tampa Bay game on the 26th. It was so freakin cold that year! 2012 was nice but definitely not hot! Water parks were closed a couple of times then too, but they didn't need to protect the flowers at least!

Nope. Just from Boston. But you are right. When we were there, the cold was the #1 story on the news every night. There was 1 night that a gun man had taken a school board hostage, and that was the #2 story behind how the cold was affecting local business.

Here is a pic of me and BDLsgal at MVMCP at night in 2010. I got my Pats jersey on and she was bundled up.

Here is a pic of us before our dinner at Le Cellier in 2012 (MUCH warmer)
