Christmas at WDW - suggestions??

Cool, that's what I was thinking. I think we will concentrate on the rides for my 5yoDD in the morning, then play it by ear from that point on. When we went last July, it was pretty busy and terribly hot, and she did pretty good. I have been TiVO-ing anything Disney-related off the Travel Channel (Great Hotels is our favorite) and she has gotten into looking for Hidden Mickeys BIG TIME, so I can keep her occupied with that while Dad and 11yoDD wait in lines for things like Space Mountain and such. And if the crowds get to be too much, there are other things we can do at the resorts (I can't wait to see the Gingerbread at the Grand Floridian!) and Downtown Disney.

Here is the next question then - besides the Gingerbread at the Grand Floridian, what other non-park special Christmas things are there to do at the resorts? You all have convinced me that to have the best time possible we have to have a plan, so I'm trying to gather as much information as I can! Thanks so much!

We spent Christmas of 2004 at Wilderness Lodge and loved every minute of it! Of course, we didn't actually go to any parks, so I can't speak for the crowds there. We spent our time hanging out at WL and touring other resorts and having great meals instead of visiting the parks. But the whole atmosphere of Disney on and around Christmas Day was unsurpassable. I would spend every Christmas at Disney if I could!

ETA: Wilderness Lodge had Christmas crafts at the Cub's Den from, I think, 2-4 every afternoon that we were there. One day they also had a craft around the Christmas tree in the lobby.

WDW resort guests are guaranteed admission to A park, It may not be the one that you initially want.

We have AP's and we are also guaranteed admission to a park. On New years Eve last year, it was NOT going to be MK. ( we did not get to WDW until 11am)

Thank you so much for the info. I had totally read this the wrong way, and the info they give you is kind of misleading. Another good reason to be at rope drop I guess.

Thanks so much for the info - we are staying at the Wilderness Lodge, so I'll definitely check into that. That may give Dad and I some time to do some Christmas shopping or other things the kids would be bored to tears with!
