I would love to take my mother to Disneyland for Christmas, she has never been and I think she would love the Christmas decorations. I was thinking about arriving there Dec. 31st and staying a week. Will the Christmas decorations still be up? TIA

Yes. The holiday season will last until around January 6, including holiday overlays, parades, fireworks, etc. Expect it to be extremely busy on the 31st. If you go to the parks that day, go early and don't leave....you'll likely not be able to get back in as it'll be closed for capacity.

There is a Christmas superthread around here somewhere that is choc full of usefull information. The time you state is quite busy, but worth it. The busiest days are the 31st and the 1st.

Because the 1st falls on a Tuesday, most locals will be back at work by the 2nd and I expect crowds will drop quite a bit.

Cyclenut, thats what I'm hoping for. We can take the crowds, as the first couple of days will just be to see the decorations. We will be there for rope drop and enjoy being at our favorite place no matter what. :cool1: I will check out that superthread for pointers.

Christmas time at DisneyLand is a special time. The decorations are up and everyone is extra nice. Even when the crowds hit capacity, people are still full of Christmas cheer. The holiday cheer extends all the way to the Christmas Parade, I believe the parade CMs smile a lot more than normal. Ya just has ta see it fer yerself.....:cool1:

As others have said, the decorations are still up and it really is a great time of year. I am going the same time and am already planning for the crowds so just be ready for that!;)

Yes.

But as others are saying, Disneyland will be super busy. Is there any way you could go earlier in December? Less crowds, more fun.

I'm a teacher so as much as I would like to go another time I can't. I am thinking of maybe going Thanksgiving week if we can't make it the week of New Year's. Either way, we will be at Disney and will have a great time.

We went Christmas week and it was wonderful. We've actually done it twice now, once long ago, and both times were crowded but awesome!
