Help. We are trying to figure out when we should go to Disney. I have always wanted to go at Christmas time. But we are having major guilt over taking the grandkids away from the grandparents at this special time of year. So here is my question...if we go on the 26th, is it the same??? My husband doesn't want to lose any magic of a Christmas at Disney. When I called and asked the question of the CM, she told me that everything was the same, decorations were still up etc. But is the feeling the same? What are the pros and cons for going the week before Christmas or the week after. Thanks for the help, we really need it this time.

sorry granddad and gam but i feel going on christmas can be a lifelong thing to remember but grandparents dont last forever, its a close call, i went to wdw on christmas and loved it so its up to you :cloud9:

Yes it is kind of the same....there are 2 major differences Price and crowds.

Value season ends 12/19 then Holiday season kicks in on 12/20 which is the highest price of the year. The crowds start building on the 15th and the week between christmas and NYE not only have the highest price but have the hightest park attendance levels of the year. The rest is up to you but those are 2 big cons JMHO.

We too have been in this quandry, we are trying to do a trip at the beginning of December but would love to be there right on christmas some year. My daughter has only one grandparent left and she is not in the greatest health and is 8 years old. We have decided to wait for our Christmas day trip and let our 5 year old dd enjoy the time she has left with her grandmother.

My dd's birthday is on 12/21, and my parents (both in their 80's) live outside Orlando. We are on the fence about going this year also.

If you go on the 26th, the feeling is definitely the same. Two years ago, my son and daughter-in-law didn't want to take our granddaughter away from her family in Ohio. They met us at Disney World on the 26th. We had already been there for a few days. Everything was the same. The magic is still there. The special Illuminations still goes off. The decorations are still up. The music is still Christmas music. Our granddaughter had two Christmases that year - one in Ohio and one at Disney World. We even decorated our resort room.

GO! have fun! actually, we've gone in the beginning of December and towards the end.....no difference that I could see! they start decorating for Christamas right after Thanksgiving and it's truely spectacular! we always try to go around the holidays but with the type of work I do, I can't always get away that time of year. As one of the PM's has already said, you may not get another chance like this with the kids so have a great time with them now. Also, if you do decide to go you should check out Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party....it's a hard ticket party where you have to pay seperately from park admission but it's well worth it! Have fun! :thumbsup2

I've been to WDW during X-Mas and the crowds are ridiculisly large but, that is why they make fastpasses. Anyway those are times I will never forget. Even though the crowds are large it is well worth it to be with the ones you love besides what other theme park makes its own snow. I would say do it becaue the atmosphere and time spent with family is well worth it.

Have you thought of going early December? My Mum and me are thinking about a possible trip next year from 26th November till 4th December. We would love to go over Christmas however my mum has to work (she is a florist) and she also doesn't want to leave my grandparents at christmas. I think you should go for it and have a great time but there's something about celebrated christmas after christmas that is not so good as if you celebrate it during the big build up to christmas.

We spent time with the grandparents on Christmas Eve day instead, and Santa brought the Disney World trip. We woke up Christmas morning to find bags packed under the tree with an invitation from Santa that we were going to Disney World. RIGHT NOW.

There was never a more magical Christmas -- it was the best our family has ever had and we still got to see the grandparents during "the holidays."

I say GO!!!

Thanks for the advice. We have decided to go. And we have decided that we want to be there on Christmas. I would love to go when it is less crowded earlier in December, but my husband is a Principal, so his vacations are always the busiest times. Oh well, we are used to the crowds. Thanks for all of the encouragement. I am so excited I could scream. I spent all day pouring over all of the information to make sure that there wasn't anything new since our last trip that I didn't know about. Because believe it or not, it is time to make advance dining reservations. I have always wanted to go at Christmas and it has never worked out. But now I am finally getting to do it. Thanks again. :Pinkbounc
