I would like to buy some CHristian music CD's. This is something new for me, but I need your help. I don't know any artists.

What I am looking for is inspiring/motivational songs.

Also, songs that might be contemporary but "made over" with Christian lyrics/thoughts, something like what they did in Sister Act.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for but the WOW series is a great place to start if you are interested in sampling contemporary Christian music. They are 2 disk sets with about 30 songs from various artists. There is so much variety and you just might find a group that you love. :)

The WOW series is a good place to start. I also like Michael W. Smith. His songs are uplifting to me.
I also find gospel music to be very uplifting.

Good luck in finding what you are looking for.... :)

The last two posts are great suggestions (WOW & Michael W. Smith). Also, Matt Redman & Steven Curtis Chapman. If you have access to KAZA (where you download music) you can go in under "Christian Music" & there'll be a huge list. The 'repeat' singers are usually today's most popular. Allof the above will be on there.

I really like Phillips, Craig, & Dean. Also Cherie Keaggy.

There are so many styles of Christian music.. its so wide ranged. Think of the style of music you like now (whether it be contemporarry, rap, rock/album pop, R& B) there is a Christian music artist to fit that style.

Another suggestion is to go to a local Christian bookstore. Any of the good ones, will have a CD music listening station out there for you to decide.

Personally I don't like Michael W Smith or Phil Keaggy. I like the more contempory stuff but not rappy stuff. My DH and I like Jars of Clay, and some, not I said some Amy Grant.

Some of Dee Dee and Cee Cee Wayans stuff is nice too, if you like R & B.

WOW CDs are a great way to "sample" different artists. Some of my favorites are Michael W. Smith, dc Talk, Jars of Clay, FFH, Avalon, Point of Grace, well I could go on and on. Anyway, I am more of a contemporary Christian music listener. I also enjoy praise and worship songs, and there are WOW CDs of that too.

Like the others said, WOW is a great place to start. Michawel W. Smith is wonderful, and so is Steven Curtis Chapman.

I like alot of the groups others have mentioned, too. You might also want to try 4 Him, Newsboys, SonicFlood, Third Day, Rachael Lampa, I could go on & on. There are some great Contemporary Christian music artists out now.

I have to put in a vote for the "Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir". At the risk offending, I don't normallly like this style of music but I get everyone of their projects that I can get my hands on.

Their style differs from song to song with a little bit of everything on each CD.

For what it's worth.

Sherry/dizneenut,
My daughter loves the newsboys!! She saw them at Creation and immediately came home and bought there CD. There is talk of her Youth Group traveling next summer to build houses for Habitat For Humanity with the band!

Thanks for the suggestions. I do remember seeing that our Christian Book store did have listening areas, so I will print out these ideas and go listen. Thank you very much!
