I'm trying to choose an officiant, and for some reason I'm finding this really overwhelming. I'm at the 8 month mark, and I feel like this is something I need to get booked ASAP. Right now I'm looking at Reverend Tim Herring. Can anyone share any thoughts on him? Any feedback at all would be great. And if you didn't go with Tim, who did you use? Would you make the same choice if you had it to do over? TIA!

Well, DH picked our officiant, but to make the process less stressful he decided to ask our planners for input. He asked sent them an e-mail letting them know what we expected of our ceremony and they wrote back with two suggestions.

Then we picked from those two after contacting them.

We figured, our planners know these officiants, they see them every day, they see what kind of ceremonies they perform, so we trust their expertise. It turns out they recommended one of the officiants DH had first singled out in the group of hopefuls so that made things easier. :thumbsup2

This is a great idea! I would also suggest chatting with your officiant on the phone to get a sense of him/her and how he/she likes to do things. It was so important to us that our officiant know us and really understand us that we brought our own, and he requested that we meet with him a few times beforehand. I don't see why you couldn't have a conference call with your DF and your potential officiant. :thumbsup2

I also consulted my planner on this - she helped me make a great choice for us in Rev. Jack Day!

We went with Rev Sig. He performed my BFF's vow renewal for her and her hubby and he seemed like a nice man when we chatted with him. Plus I liked the fact that he and his wife have been married over 40 years, he obviously knows how to make marriage last/work. He did a very nice job with our ceremony...he asks for a lot of details about the couple, families and friends so your ceremony is personal.

I'm really glad you posted this! We chose him for our ceremony next May but I could not find any reviews of him on the Dis! I chose him because he was the most personable in his emails, and I liked his ceremony write ups the best. He's also Lutheran, which is what I was raised as. I'm really glad you liked him!

We choose Rev. Jack Day for our VR next year. I'd heard so many good things about him on the Boards, and when DH & I saw his website - we felt like he was the one for us. I contacted him via email and within a day he replied and said he put us on his calendar.

We did the big Catholic wedding when we got married (I'm Catholic, DH is not) and for our VR we want something simple and fun. And Rev. Day looks like the best candidate for what we want.

We had Rev. Randall Miller. I can't say enough about him! He is very charismatic, well-spoken, and down to Earth.

I'm having an issue with mine. We sent our vows to Rev Kev and he had an issue with one, saying it looked poor on his as a minister. It wasn't anything horrible, just a twist on a line with a video game reference.

As this was my first interaction with him since making the deposit, I'm not impressed, and I would have asked for our deposit back, but I just wasn't looking to start our search over again.

I also chose Rev Jack Day!:thumbsup2 I spoke with him on the phone the other day and he was soooo sweet and VERY funny!! We chose him because of all the good things we heard, AND to me he looks like Carl from Up!!:wizard:

So, no one has used Reverend Tim Herring? If you have, but you'd rather PM me with feedback on him that's fine...

I'm pretty sure my Daughter just booked Rev Tim Herring for her wedding in May also. Her planner seemed to think he was a good choice and he was quick to respond to her emails. Good Luck

Rev Tim will be our officiant on October 12th. He was really nice and sent us so much information, we liked him right away. We are doing a civil ceremony and are not asking for any changes but we liked that he mentioned in his FAQs that he once wore a Hawaiian shirt to a ceremony at Sunset Point! :goodvibes

Rev. Tim co-officiated our ceremony with Rabbi Lefkowitz.

We both really liked Rev. Tim and were happy with the ceremony. He was easy to reach (responds to emails really quickly!), easy to talk to (he provides grat anecdotes during planning) and provided good advice. We picked different aspects that we wanted in the ceremony and went on flawlessly. I highly recommend him, he was really great and I'm sure he will do a great job for you as well :goodvibes

I should add, our guests loved his Southern accent!

I had Rev. Tim and have no complaints whatsoever. We loved our ceremony; he made it seem like he'd known us for years, knew when to make a joke to break the tension, and what to say to calm any nerves. We really enjoyed working with him. :goodvibes

I second everything that you've said as well! (Including his accent :cutie:)

Thanks for this feedback! I've decided to book Reverend Tim and this makes me feel really confident in my choice.

I'm a sucker for a southern accent, so that doesn't hurt either!
