princess:Ok so I'm trying to choose which deluxe resort to stay at. I'm leaning toward the Beach Club or the poly. but I'm open to other resort. could you give me reviews for the resorts?princess:

The Grand Floridian is the greatest place on Earth. :cloud9:

That being said, we're about to do a split stay at AKL/BWI, for financial reasons. I stayed at the Poly as a kid and had a great time, but it's too "dark" for my boyfriend's tastes.

how many people? When? How long? ages? favorite park? what color underwear? (that last one is for me)

I think it really depends on what you want to be close to. I love Beach Club becuase it's a short walk to the World Showcase, which is my favorite part of WDW.

If it were me, I'd pick one of the three resorts between Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

We loved YC when we stayed! We plan to stay there again on our next trip.

I've been to Beach Club once and Animal Kingdom Lodge three times. LOVE AKL!! The price is the best of the deluxe and we love the animals. HOWEVER....next time I would like to choose a monorail resort as we grew tired of depending on the buses.

As others have said, it all depends how many people are in your party and their ages, as well as when you are going. We only go during slow times, but even then bus service at AKL - now that they make two stops, one at Kadani and one at Jambo - was really bad last time. I travel with my 78-year-old father, so I try to cut out as much walking and waiting as I can for his comfort. What I didn't like about Beach Club transportation was that it shares a bus with 4 other resorts and only has boat service to Epcot (World Showcase entrance) and Studios.

Hence why next time I want a monorail resort! :goodvibes

We stayed at Wilderness Lodge for our April 2008 trip. We loved it. :thumbsup2
We took the boats to MK and had a great time.

Though it does depend on how many people and what parks you prefer to visit.

My husband and I stayed at the Beach Club and loved it. The closeness to Epcot and Hollywood studios was great. We had planned most of our meals at Epcot in the evening and it was wonderful to be able to walk over and back as needed.
We also loved the pool and our room overlooked the pool which was great. My cousin stayed there and they were on the far end of the resort and had a bit of a walk to the main pool but they did not mind.
The only issue I had with the Beach Club was the concept of Counter Service to grab quick bites to eat for breakfast. this was limited as it was in the gift shop and there wasnt' much of a selection. At least being next to the Boardwalk we can walk to the Bakery.

Now that we are traveling with little ones and the MK is the park the we will be at the most, we are staying Bay Lake Towers this year.

Beach Club is my favorite! I haven't stayed at Poly but, we do want to one day. The BC is very relaxing and it is such a nice stroll over to WS. Plus you can take a boat or walk over to DHS too. If you spend most of your time at MK than I would say Poly but, we do about equal (possibly a bit more at MK) and we love BC.

My heart belongs to The Poly. BC is great, but The Poly has more of an old Disney feel to me. To me Poly is a whole immersive experience, whereas BC is just a really nice resort.

Personally, I would pick the Yacht Club. Our family has always stayed there, and has always been 100% satisfied. I feel that it offers a little of everything. The pool at Stormalong Bay is immense and extremely fun- yet if it is too loud or chaotic for your preferences, then the quiet pool is nice as well. The Yachtsman Steakhouse is delicious, but there is also counter service options at the Beach Club Marketplace or across the lake at the Boardwalk. Also- the lobby of the Yacht Club has a small counter service breakfast area that is ideal for a quick bite before heading to the parks in the morning. Finally, the location is awesome. Walking distance to Epcot World Showcase gate, a 10 minute walk or boat ride to the Studios, and bus to MK or AK.

In general, the Yacht Club is well worth the money simply because of its various amenities and fantastic location.

It really depends on what you like/want.

Here are my personal reviews of the deluxe resort that we've stayed at:

AKL/AKV - LOVE the AKL/AKV!! I love the earthy colors, the areas around the resort to view the animals, the general feel of the resort is great, the zero entry pool, good playground, CMs have always been outstanding and I feel like I'm on a different continent instead of being in Central Florida. I'm not crazy about Boma (for breakfast) but do like the Mara for CS. Can't comment on the buses since we always drive.

WL or VWL - Again I like the earthy colors, like the location with just being a short boat ride to either CR, MK or FWC, like WCC for TS (any meal), Roaring Forks is OK for a TS, and the CMs have always been good. The only negative is that uphill walk from the parking lot to the lobby can be a monster at the end of the day. But we always feel relaxed as soon as we walk into the WL lobby.

CR - Stayed in the now extinct North Garden Wing and did not like it at all. Like Chef Mickey's, the CS is good with good choices, the monorail is very convenient but just didn't like the overall feel of the resort. We didn't check out the pool so I can't comment on that. We recently stayed at BLT and absolutely loved it despite it being connected to CR, go figure.

so far you have........Yacht Club, Beach Club, Poly, AKL, WL. a comment that would include the Contemporary, a comment that would include Boardwalk and one pair of pantys of unspecified color.

So what your saying is.....stay where you want to stay depending on what you like!! and please we need underwear info!

I wish they could put the Poly or OKW in the spot where Beach Club is! Perfect location for perfect resorts. :hippie:

It comes down to personal taste, which resort appeals to you and yours the most...

There is no BAD deluxe resort, they are all wonderful in their own ways.

Being on the monorail line is certainly a consideration. BC/YC are my favorite deluxes in terms of the themes, but paying all that money then having to get on a bus to get to the MK is a deal breaker for us.

The Contemporary is a favorite choice for us simply because being able to walk to the MK is a priceless feature.
