Since it sounds like you're unable to make it to Disneyland before the 50th ends, I say enjoy your trip to WDW, but make sure that you make that Disneyland trip. However, if it's at all possible to go during the 50th, do so. I love Disney World, but my favorite park will always be Disneyland. I love the charm and intimacy of the only theme park in the world where Walt Disney walked. His influence is seen and felt in so many little details. What Disneyland may lack in size, it makes up for in so many different ways. I like Main Street much better in DL. MK doesn't have the turn of the century feel to it. It's almost too big.
The other thing is that for some reason that I can't really figure out, Disneyland often has the more detailed version of a ride that is in both parks. This is especially true on POTC and Small World. I don't know if it's because the DL versions are the original ones or what, but Fantasyland and ToonTown are also radically different experiences at DL due to a lot more attractions and better versions(with the exception of Snow White which is slightly more detailed at MK).
Please note that I don't disagree with your decision either. I'm not sure that you can make a bad decision when it comes to visiting Disney. I just want to encourage you to make sure you make that trip to Disneyland. That's where it all began. After all, it's Walt's home park, and no other Disney park can claim that no matter how wonderful and grand they all are. If not for Disneyland, there would be no Disney World.
One last note. Do not expect the same feeling of wonder and charm at DCA. It showcases the personal touch of a company that strayed from what Walt would have done, and is now seeing that people don't visit Disney for cheap rides, but instead visit Disney because it's Disney. DCA is finally working on having the right feel throughout the park instead of on a few attractions.
