Hi all

Having decided on the weekend of the second bank holiday in May (26th and 27th), I've been looking around to see if I can find a location that will suit everybody. I must admit to not having a lot of success.

Our requirements are:
A South West location (after all, it is a South West Meet!)
A camp site with facilities
Hotel within walking distance
Somewhere that you can book for a couple of days.

I've found somewhere that has log cabins and camp sites, but they only allow one week bookings.

I guess our choices are:

1. One of you good people comes up with a bright idea of where we can find all the above.
2. We have just a standard South West DIS Meet and we all play happy campers at a seperate Meet later in the year.
3. Jules holds her goolie meet in May as planned and I'll organise something later in the year.

I'm easy (and always have been), so anything we decide on is fine with me. Thoughts people?

I'm thinking that if I had the choice, then camping later in the year would be better so that the weather can warm up a little (if that's possible lol) So my vote would be Kevin's normal meet in may with camping maybe July/ August time (working around my WDW trip of course;) ) can't wait to see what everyone else thinks,

The camp later in the summer would work well with Jen_uk's idea of a camp in the New Forest.( lots of good pubs:thumbsup2 ) and B&B's for the non camping members of the dis.

Camping would be good in the summer, how soon do you think we should book to make sure we get somewhere?

I'm easy, as long as I don't have to organise anything other than me I'm happy!
will probably only be ever to make a sunday/monday of a bank holiday anyway as I usually end up working on the saturdays

Pending on dates for our DLRP trip count us in. We wont be booking our trip, until we get back from New York.

There are many campsites in South West, but whether they are near a hotel is another thing. Last year we stayed at Hendra Holiday Park in Newquay. Lovely place, but ex*****ve for what it is.

Does anyone know any hotels they would like to book or stay? Around Newquay they were quite expensive.

I am easy, as you all know LOL. It would certainly be warmer (I hope) later on in the year for the camp, and I am happy to organise this for later on in the year.

Did you try the Cotswold Water Park Kev? I have to say that I think anywhere around the May Bank Holiday is going to be expensive as they will bump the prices right up.

I vote for going ahead with a normal meet in May then having the goolies meet later in the year :)

I did Joh. Looks like they do one week stays only at that time.

The only place I can think of is:-

http://www.whitemead.co.uk/

I stayed there during the week for work last year and they do just weekends too. There is a great pub just outside the camp too.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that Mark. It looks very nice. Unfortunately the accomodation can only be booked for 3 nights over bank holidays, but the camping looks reasonable enough.
