Could someone please describe what the Chocolate Wave is at the Corral Reef? I see lots of comments that it is yummy, but can't really find out what it is? Thanks!

It's a chocolate cake with a liquid ganache center. They've changed the recipe some over time. I think the ganache used to be flavored with Gran Marinier, but I'm not sure if it still is.

Awesome dessert!! They change the presentation of it here and there, too.

This is from May of this year, it had a little scoop of sorbet with it (the sorbet was really good) sorry it's a little blurry:

I had it last year too and it was a little different:

I kicked myself for not getting it. When I was there in January, my friend and I never got the same dessert unless we weren't interested in anything else. We would get 2 things so we could try each others. She got the Chocolate Wave and I got the Baileys and Jack chocolate mousse. The mousse was good, very rich and dense and after the delicious meal I just couldn't finish it. My friend ate about half of the Chocolate Wave and felt like I did about the mousse, amazing but rich and heavy after the meal. She got up to go to the bathroom and I grabbed her plate so I could taste the Wave. O...M...G...So good. I had one bite and it was blissful...then I said "what the heck" and had another bite. Well by the time she came back, there wasn't any left! I could barely walk when we left the restaurant because I hadn't intended on eating any more but I just couldn't leave that sitting there!

i had the chocolate wave in 2008 and it was so good! it was presented different then also...no pic but here's from early june of this year...it was dh's but he gave it to me because mine wasn't to my liking...

sorry to go overboard but we love Caral Reef!!!

That passion fruit crème brûlée makes me so very sad. The butterscotch one it replaced was my favorite.

It's like a light chocalate cake with a hollow center filled with a warm chocalate liquid (lighter than hot fudge). It's good stuff.
