I was thinking about making a very small chocolate fondue next weekend. Anyone ever made one? What's the best way? Dark/Milk/Semi-Sweet Chocolate?

Of course, I was thinking of some strawberries and apples along with some pretzels (love choc. covered pretzels--the salt/sweet thing is awesome). Anyone have any other quick and easy things to use?

Other than pretzels and fruit what about...

- marshmallows
- graham crackers (or graham sticks)
- vanilla wafers
- oreos or other cookies

Just what I can think of off the top of my head. Good luck with ideas!

pound cake
banana
cheesecake
apples

I think everyones listed all the things we usually dip. I make chocolate fondue with whatever chocolate I have at the time, usually milk. Sometimes I mix them. I add liquid coffee creamer, usually french vanilla, and then maybe a little bit of wine and cinnamon. Really, just whatever I feel in the mood for and it always turns out well. Mmm, I may just have to make some for dessert tonight! I'm going to have to pick up some pretzels today. Never thought of using that!

We had a chocolate fountain at our Christmas party and a couple of the more unusual (but yummy) dipping items were grapes, chocolate chip cookies and soft oatmeal raisin cookies.

Mmmm, pretzels! What a great idea!

I love to dip cut-up Rice Krispie Treats. Just buy one from the store, and you're ready to go! Pieces of Snickers bars are also great. I second the recommendation for bananas!

Mini cheesecake squares and mini cream puffs are amazing. Plus the strawberries, bananas, pound cake and pretzels. Sometimes we do pineapple too.

I usually use semi-sweet choc. chips to make mine (because usually that's what I keep around...a good general pupose pantry chocolate for cookies, muffins, fondue, etc...)

Ugh, you have me craving fondue like crazy now!

Potato chips are also really good dipped in chocolate.

Brownies! (chocolate, dipped in chocolate.. can it get any better?)

Our fave is Milk Chocolate with Caramel, Bailey's and buttershots (butterscotch liquer)

You can try adding kahlua, grand marnier, or frangelico.

Enjoy!

a good quality milk chocolate (I usually head over to Cost Plus World Market to get imported chocolate) along with baker's chocolate and whipping cream makes a great fondue! Pound cake, bananas, strawberries and marshmallows for dipping (I really like the idea of pretzels! have to try it the next time I make fondue!) :wave2:

How do you do your fondue? In micro? Fondue pot?? How much cream or milk to chocolate?

I have an electric fondue pot, which I use on low. My recipe is big, but we usually only eat half, and the other half keeps well in the fridge, 3 bars of swiss milk chocolate, 4 squares of baking chocolate and a small carton of whipping cream. The recipe calls for kahula or rum, but we don't use them. I'm getting hungry thinking about it! :wave2:

Marachino cherries are good because they have the stem attached for handy dipping. the big pretzel rods work great too. if it's fondue for kids try gummi bears (or gummi anything!)

We did fondue one year in DD's class at school for Valentine's day and they loved dipping the giant pretzels and large marshmallows.

You can make a simple fondue with good quality chocolate chips (I like ghiradelli) heavy cream and a bit of vanilla for taste.

Have fun!
