Chocolate covered strawberries?

My DD saw on the GF show on Travel Channel that you can have chocolate covered strawberries waiting for you in your room when you check in.

I was wondering if anyone has ever done this and how much it is? I thought it might be a nice treat for me to surprise DH and 2 DD's when we walk into our room and check out our view of the castle to have something special to snack on.

I'm assuming that I can also have this done at the Polynesian but have not been able to find info on the Disney Florist site or others that were mentioned in the post about gift baskets within the past 2 days.

Seeing how search is down and this is driving me nuts I thought I would post so I can get off the computer for a while and get some chores done around the house.

Thanks for your help.

I dont know about ordering them, but we got complimentary strawberries from the YC on our Ann.

Im sure if you call the resort they would be able to arrange something or tell you where you could call or e-mail to arrange something yourself.

You can call private dining to arrange that item. Though they usuually do not deliver anything to the room before it is occupied.

Thanks Dalpal & Cris for your input. I'll try to contact the hotel and see what they say.

We will probably be in the room for about an hour before heading over to MVMCP so I'll have to see if they can do it. I know I'll be the one checking us in, DH leaves Disney to me. He knows it's my baby so I could always check on my surprise at check in I guess.

a beautiful plate delivered to our room our first night......they had chocolate covered strawberries.....cookies......candies...and a large display of white chocolate that stood up.....it was delicious ....gorgeous and the Dolphin did a wonderful job

I do not think they will deliver anything until you have actually checked into your room, but you can pre-order it and it will be delivered shortly after. But not sure. I had ours delivered while we were out for dinner so when we returned it was a "surprise". I do know that they will not deliver alcoholic beverages to a room without you being there if you have children with you.

We stayed at the GF in May and I had ordered Choc covered strawberries and champagne. The price for the choc covered strawberries is/was $50.00, the choc mickey mouse in the center of the plate is $50.00 (additional cost does not come with the strawberries) and the champagne is as much as you wish to pay depending on the "brand", they will go over all the types and prices when you call! There are only 6/7 strawberries on a plate but they are huge and they are very generously dipped in choc and decorated - just beautiful. It was a nice surprise for my husband.

If you are interested in an Illuminations/Magic Kingdom fireworks cruise you can have them delivered to your boat too!

Hi Gina! I have arranged this thru AKL Concierge. Apparently it is done thru in-room dining. The price I was given a month ago is $3 per strawberry...$3 delivery fee and (I believe) 18% gratuity...actually, I decided on the chocolate display with AKL written or airbrushed on it...but this is the pricing I was given...the tuxedo chocolate-covered strawberries...they could be waiting for you when you return to your room the first night:D

We received chocolate strawberries from BC Concierge... they were huge (like the size of an egg) I don't know if gonga's $50.00 mickey was like this one... but that would be a lot of money!

These chocolates were a gift at AKL... but I did ask about having strawberries sent to a room and was told they were $3.50 per strawberry + tax and 18% gratuity

Cass! I am so excited to see your photos...the chocolate easel w/ AKL logo "bar" is one of the things they are going to deliver to the room while we're at dinner the first night. My daughter is going to FLIP! It's gorgeous. Thanks!:Pinkbounc

Hi... that photo frame thing is also HUGE...and weighs a ton LOL... my photo does not give perspective... I guess you could look at my tumbler of baileys and cream in the background ;)

It is in two pieces... the easel and the picture being separate... the elephant was my favourite :p

Awesome! Actually, the elephant I did not get, if I remember correctly. They offered the elephant with another selection of things - maybe it was w/ strawberries. What I really wanted was the easel. I'm so excited...You got a custom item;)

I did take a picture, but not digital or i would post it for you. The strawberries were huge like yours and they were on a silver platter. I did not order the choc mickey because I thought $50.00 was enough for the strawberries, plus the champagne. When I called (GF Concierge) the peice I was given was thru them and thru dining services. I don't know why I was not given the $3.00- $3.50 per price - seems like a much better deal! Why would one hotel charge more/less than another for the same thing? I know I definately paid $50.00 for the strawberries:confused:

Sorry for being lame, but do all the resorts do this or just specific ones?

Hi.. I am certain all the deluxe resorts can do this for guests...

Gonga... how many strawberries did you have for $50.00? maybe it was the gorgeous silver platter (you should have kept it)
:p

We're staying at CBR. Seeing as it's our anniversary when we're there, I'd like to have something like this to come back to, waiting in the room that night. My husband won't think to do something like this, I have to be the romantic one in the family. :(

Oh my gosh, those pictures are awesome!!!

I'm gonna call the hotel direct in a few days if I don't get a response to the email I sent. Hopefully I get quoted $3.50 each strawberry cause $50 is alittle high, but I'm sure that won't stop me.

I'll have to see how long it would be until they can bring it to our room seeing how we will be only in our room for a short time and will be back late the first night.

Thanks for all your responses. I hope that I can have this done even though I'm not staying concierge.

unfortunally moderates do not have private dining so they will be unable to fullfill your request. You can always call the florist and they could deliver a basket of some sorts.

I have a price list from WL, and heres what they charge:

6 Tuxedo Strawberries - $25.00
6 Tuxedo Strawberries with House Champagne - $60.00

18% gratuity, tax and delivery charge will be added to all orders. 24 hours prior notice is required.

When we stayed at CSR (moderate) last November the room service menu listed chocolate covered strawberries. Price was somewhere in the $3-4/berry range. Maybe that's an option for CBR also? And maybe that's where the $3-4/berry comes from as opposed to the $50 tray which seems to be coming from private dining?
