Hey There,

We're planning our next trip to Disneyland and we just found out that the CHOC Walk will be held at the very beginning of our trip.

We'll be at Disneyland October 13-20 and the walk is held on the 14.

Does it get very bad as far as crowd is concern on the same day and for the rest of the week?

Also, how does it work? Is the Park closed to public so they can have the walk on?

Thanks!

CHOC walk has two perks that add to attendance. Free parking at M&F garage and an offer for a discounted ticket. It does not make the day much busier than it would be since it's a weekend anyway. So don't worry about that.

The walk is only 5K, so easy to finish in 30 minutes if you keep moving, though lots of people take their time and take pictures. It starts early and goes in DL first then to DCA. This means MM cancelled. But the parks open as normal.

This is all based on 2011. If you search you may find out if 2012 is operating the same if they have information online about this coming walk.

I didn't find the parks themselves that much busier. What was busier was the esplanade before DL opened. They have to wait for all the walkers to clear the park before opening and the walk goes through the esplanade. The area was wall to wall people before the gates finally opened.

That said I enjoyed being able to cheer people on as they came through and once inside the park didn't feel it was that much busier. Many people weren't prepared for the crowd on the esplanade or the fact that magic morning was cancelled. As long as you know that you should be fine.

We were at DL last year during this time, and we found it didn't seem that much busier. The walk seemed to be mostly in DCA before the park opened...and it was kinda cool to watch as they meandered through the park from our hotel window. (We stayed at PPH).

Thanks everyone!

I'm glad to see it should not be that bad!

In the past, I've been to Disney World mid-July and to Disneyland the week of 4th of July so I know how crowd it can be!

I'll make sure I cheer for those who will walk the park!!!
