Just discovered the Choc Walk will be going on Oct 17. I checked their webb site and they are expecting 15,000 walkers and they have chance at 1 day discount ticket. Their event starts at 7am before park opening. Do most stay? Any advice?

I am going to be in DLR that weekend...Oct 17-18...hope it doesn't have TOO much of an impact on crowds...

Since most of the 15,000 are local, very few actually stay, it has very little impact on the park, but it is VERY worthwhile to go watch or even walk in it. If you are a parent it makes you love and appreciate life if your children are in good health and feel for the parents and children who are not.

I've done the CHOC walk and stayed at the park the past few years, but only because I'm a Premium AP. While that day does have a higher attendance than a normal weekend in that time period, it isn't a huge increase. And the slight increase would only be Sunday.

If you have any interest at all, you should participate! There are a lot of people cheering on the sidelines and characters are all out along the course for photo ops, and you get to go backstage in some areas few people ever get to go. It is a lot of fun!!!

I accidentally went on the day of the Choc walk last year. Parking was a nightmare. Here I was thinking I was going early in the am, going to have a great day... yikes. I would not plan a regular family daytrip on that day again. Just my experience.

We were there in 2009 on the day of the CHOC Walk, in fact it was our first morning there and I believe DL was set to open a bit later. We showed up before the official opening to pick up DS's birthday funcard and button and afterward, we meandered down Main Street and found that everything was open and the rides were running. We were also concerned that it would be a busy day, but it really did not turn out to be. Our worry was for naught.
