CHOC Walk and DL Marathon

Hi all! We will be visiting the last week in August and are trying to plan our park days. Do the CHOC Walk and Disneyland Marathon bring in about the same crowd volume to the parks? We are trying to decide between visiting Sunday the 27th and Friday the 1st (we will also be at the parks at least Tues-Thurs, but want a day to see Fantasmic and fireworks). Any advice? Thank you!

That's a tough one...I felt like CHOC walk brought in more people than the marathon, but that might have been because CHOC walk is only one day (so the crowds were concentrated) while the marathon spans multiple days (so there are probably more people in total, but they're distributed over multiple days plus they're gearing up for their early morning runs). Ultimately, I think both will be very busy, but I would probably opt to go with Friday the 1st as my first choice.

Fridays of holiday weekends are generally very crowded, even without races. But with the 27th being the first Sunday that So Cal APs aren't blocked since F!, ROA and the train reopened, I'd definitely avoid that. If you could do Saturday the 26th or Friday the 8th I think you'll notice a huge difference.
