chipolte - what are your favorites?

And if you want to Carb Load, or make your meal last even longer, order your burrito Double Wrapped.
Yikes! You realize that the (one) tortilla itself literally doubles the calorie content of the item, right?

I love them! They are the best and the freshest. I love the veggie burrito bowl

Mine has brown rice and it is so good.

Anything and everything is good there.

Oh nom nom nom nom.... Chipotle is my fave!! In fact, now that you mentioned it, that's what I'm going to have DH go out and get me for lunch today.

My favorite (ok, and the only thing I order) is a vegetarian fajita burrito. Rice, black beans, mild salsa w/ a little bit of hot salsa, cheese & guac.

Their guacamole is the BEST but if you're not getting a vegetarian, I believe you have to pay extra for it.

ETA: Before I was pregnant & cared a bit more about what I was eating, I'd get the same order, but in a bowl instead of a burrito. I could eat half of it for lunch & be satisfied, then have leftovers for the next day.

"The guac is extra"!!! LOL

Everytime anyone orders it, they say it. It always makes me chuckle for some weird reason! (yes, it is only extra with a meat...incl w/ veg) You can hear it 20+ times while you are on line!

I love the brown rice bowl with pork, peppers and onions, mild salsa, lettuce, tomato, black beans, cheese and guac....YUM! It is huge and I can only eat half of it!

For all of you with the brown rice option available - is the brown rice all cilantro-ed too?

Do the black beans and salsas have cilantro?

Anyone? Bueller?

I LOVE Chipotle, especially their guacamole. I ate there three times a week when pregnant, and for my baby shower my friends bought several bowls for us to eat off. <3

I get the burrito bowl with white rice (there is brown rice at the locations I go to, but I prefer the classic), black beans, barbacoa, hot salsa, corn and sour cream. I typically get two meals out of it.

Aaaaand now I know what I'm having for lunch today. ;)

Just finished up my burrito & chips... even with a nasty head cold (blech) it was still tasty!!

Tried the brown rice for the first time today and though I like brown rice & usually make it instead of white at home, I much prefer their white rice.

i get tired of burgers for lunch (sit down meals are way too expensive for what I can eat) so Chipotle is a good option for me. You can get tacos with any of the meat--they come in an order of 3 but they will let you order only one. I can't eat more than that so it's awesome for me.

Love the white rice with lime and cilantro.

BEST food here.

anything. ANYTHING we order is great.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

A new one is opening near us. Can youtell me what some of your favorite things to order are and what their prices are like. I am hoping its similar to baja fresh and rubios ( both of which are near my parents but not near us).

Thanks jen

I am sitting here now eating a chipotle burrito and the guy behind me told the worker that he wanted the cilantro rice and they said both the white and the brown have cilantro.

yes you are right! I just called the local one and she said they could make you plain rice, but since most items have cilantro you would wind up with plain rice, cheese, sour cream and hot sauce! doesn't sound so tasty!

Thanks you guys who answered - and asked the workers! I appreciate it.

Saved me a trip. There's one that's a walk from the class I have tonight and I'd considered walking over after, with everyone saying how good it is, but I have the cilantro thing (cilantro tastes herby to most people; to some of us [apparently 8% of so of the population :confused3], even a bit tastes like you doused the food in Dawn dish soap, renders it completely inedible) so... oh well!

I'd heard about the regular rice being cilantro-y so I'd never considered going but ppl here were talking about there being brown now so I thought maybe.

MMM Chipotle...going there for dinner tonight. :cool1:

My 2 favorites:
1. Crispy tacos, rice, pinto beans, fajita veggies, mild and corn salsas, sour cream, cheese and lettuce.

2. Bowl, rice, fajita veggies, barbacoa, mild and corn and green salsas, sour cream, cheese and lettuce. Tortilla on the side

Remember the pinto beans are NOT vegetarian. The black beans are.

Don't like the brown rice option. Give me the regular old white rice.

You can ask for the rice to be plain--they can scoop out a serving from the kitchen, but it won't have the lemon-lime juice in it.

Guac is extra if not having vegetarian. Extra meat is extra (but you can break it up and tell them half steak and half chicken or whatever). Extra sour cream, cheese, lettuce, rice are no charge. (Used to not charge for beans and salsa, but I'm not sure now)

Baba Fresh is the worst.

Qdoba is the best with Chipotle a distant secon but miles ahead of BF.

I actually go there for the salad. The dressing is slightly spicy but really makes the salad. It's hard to describe but it resembles a vinagarette.

Cornflake -

I have the cilantro thing, too (nasty, vile, evil stuff...) and I always just ask for plain rice. They usually have a pan full of it that they can unwrap and dip into for you. Then I get the fajita veggies, a meat, lettuce and cheese. I get mine in a bowl, because as someone said earlier, the wraps are calorie bombs.

MMMM.

I am a HUGE Chipotle fan! It works like a Subway but for Mexican food.

You have a choice of tacos (hard or soft), burritos, salads, or burrito bowls (same as a burrito but no tortilla). The deal with pricing is it is based on the meat not the type of food.

There are several "meat" choices. Steak, Chicken, Pork (Carnitas), Shredded beef (Barbacoa), or Vegetarian (Black beans and guac)

The cheapest is VEGETARIAN and the most expensive is STEAK. The prices vary with the area of the country, but you're looking at around $7 for an entree.

IMO the best value is the hard tacos, ESPECIALLY when the place is new. The employees don't quite know how to fill the shells and you end up with extras of everything when it spills out of the shells. They can't go back in and remove what fell from the spoon. The shells don't stay hard for long, but I don't so much mind that.

Here's how you go down the line:

1: Choose your vessel and your meat, for here or to go (e.g. Steak burrito bowl to go)

2: Rice (brown or white, with cilantro and lime!)

3: Beans (Vegetarian black beans OR pinto with bacon. You can ask for both if you like)

4: Fajita vegetables (This is a simple yes or no. Mix of bell peppers and onions, sauteed. I usually look to see if they look appetizing and if they do, I get them!)

5: Meat (Unless you chose veggie, then wait until the end for the guac)

6: Salsa (4 choices: Corn, tomato, green, and really spicy red. That is in order from least to most spicy. FYI: I love spicy food and the red salsa is QUITE hot, even for me!)

7: Sour cream and Cheese

8: Guac (Unless you got veggie, guac is extra. Something like $2 for that.)

9: Lettuce

10: The register. You can add soft drinks, bottled drinks, and chips (with salsa or guac if you like).

IF YOU WANT TO TRY SOMETHING BEFORE YOU GET IT THE FIRST TIME just ask :) They are very good about tasting. Also, there will be a day before they open when they give out free burritos because they are training their staff. It is a long wait, but it's free!

At our Chipotle the salsa is listed as tomato being mild and corn being medium....the corn salsa at our Chipotle has jalapeno in it. That said my favorite is half corn and half tomato....YUM!

And if you want to Carb Load, or make your meal last even longer, order your burrito Double Wrapped.

LOL They've done this for us when they've made it too big, but I've never asked for it that way....LOL

Just go and get plain rice. They can do that for you, they do it for DD12 because she doesn't like the cilantro lime rice either.

I actually go there for the salad. The dressing is slightly spicy but really makes the salad. It's hard to describe but it resembles a vinagarette.

I love that dressing....it's soooooooooooo good!!

OP here's what I usually get~

Salad, with a touch of rice and black beans, chicken, cheese, tomato and corn salsa. I usually ask for extra cheese because they never put enough on it. The dressing is so good I could basically eat it straight. lol It really is good!

Hard tacos with chicken, cheese, tomato & corn salsas, guac on the side, sour cream and usually lettuce. YUM!!

Burrito (shared with DBF), chicken, rice, black beans, fajita veggies, sour cream, guac, tomato & corn salsas, cheese, no lettuce.

Burrito Bowl, chicken, rice, black beans & fajita veggies, corn & tomato salsa, sour cream, guac (on the side), cheese and sometimes lettuce but not often.

I didn't know you could ask for tortillas on the side but that seems like a GREAT way to eat a burrito bowl. All of the above except the salad and tacos are always 2 meals for me, getting the extra tortillas with the burrito bowl would be a great alternative. :) I also like to get a side of medium salsa and chips......man, this is totally what I want for lunch tomorrow but won't get because I really can't eat out for lunch this week. LOL

Oooh, another cilantro thing person! :lmao: Isn't it annoying? And people don't get it - I get 'oh, yeah, it is a little soapy, but it's good! If you just try it with...' a lot. Like no, you don't understand. We can taste a thing you can not. Can't be helped and 'just a little' is like if I squirted 'just a little' dish soap all over your food. It really is vile.

I might go by the one next time and see what they have but it's apparently in the beans and salsas too and I'm a veg so no meat.

I am fortunate to not have a cilantro thing, but I do have the "Splenda Gene" and I totally get what you're saying. Splenda tastes like soap to me. Everyone is like "Naw, tastes the same!" And it definitely does not xD
