Can any of you wonderful creative people tell me what you do with chipboard?

I understand if the chipboard is a rectangle you can cover it with paper, but I'm at a loss with circles, ovals, tags, or letters. Other than painting it what do you do? It's pretty ugly by itself.

Thank you.

you can cover any chipboard in paper. Just glue the paper to the chipboard, then trim the paper close to the edge and file it down with an emery board, sandpaper, or the Basic Grey file set.

I had a tutorial up, let me look for it.

Thank you.

I know chipboard has been around forever, but I've always avoided it because it's fat. I scrap so many pictures that I don't need anything else to fatten up my scapbooks  I'm just looking into it now for cards and other projects.

I saw sheets of 12x12 chipboard today @ AC Moore...it said for use w/ die cutting machines...has anyone ever used this?? I treasure my Cricut too much to ever even think of trying it there...but could it work in my Sizzix?? It was on clearance, so I may consider buying it???

I've not got a machine for that sort of thing, but for dimensional elements I prefer grungeboard to chipboard because its bendy:thumbsup2

I love chipboard and anything that adds dimension. You can cut it with your cricut, a deep cut blade works best, but you can use your regular blade but may need to trim or cut the chipboard twice. I also use my cuttlebug/sizzix dies to cut chipboard.

Chipboard can be painted and inked/stamped as well. Thinner chipboard can be embosed. A cheap alternative to buying chipboard is reusing cereal boxes.

Chipboard is great for adding dimension and texture to a project. I like to add color to mine using Stampin' Up!s Craft Inks. This ink is pigment based, rather than dye ink which is water based. You do either have to let it sit and dry or you can speed things up with a heat gun.

The sizzix works great for chipboard and if you are cutting out an odd shape you can cut both the chipboard and a paper/cardstock to cover it with that match perfectly.
