Can someone give me a run down on how this works (at FORT WILDERNESS CAMPGROUNDS).

We are going 2nd week in May. On the calendar it shows 8pm for the last week in April, I assume the time will be the same for beginning of May.

What time should we arrive?

what kind of activities are there?

How long are chip and dale there for?

where do we buy the marshmellows?

Are we able to watch the fireworks afterwards?

1- Just to be clear, the event takes place at FORT WILDERNESS CAMPGROUNDS.
2- Yup.
3- You want to allow plenty of time for TRAVEL.
Figure that it will take up to 90+ minutes to get to the event from most places at WDW.
(At least 45-65 minutes to get there from Wilderness Lodge.)
You will need to take an Internal FtW bus to the Meadow bus stop to reach the event.
4- Character greets (Chip & Dale,)
comedy, sing-along camp songs,
Smores-toasting/eating (they sell the items there, or you can bring them,)
a Disney family film on the outdoor screen.
5- An hour, more or less.
6- See #4.
7- They will be obstructed from that location.

Planning to do Hoop dee dee review and would love to head over to chip and dale campfire. Never been to either or this area of Disney so I have no clue on travel times, etc. Do ya'll think that's do able? Not concerned about seeing fireworks that night.

Which Hoop performance?

You can take the boat over from WL. It goes right to the beach area, and you can easily get to the campfire from there. The campfire and movie are fun events, the movies are posted on the campground forum on DISboards at the beginning of each month. Chip and dale are around at the start of the sing a long, then there is a fun singing program. The movie usually starts about 9. You can come and go at will.

So I've been planning the 4pm Hoop, then the campfire. From the doors of Hoop to the campfire, how long is that travel time??? I think I read a previous thread that said I needed to take a bus to get to the campfire after Hoop???

You can walk or take the internal bus to the beach to watch the fireworks. If wishes is at 9:00 , you would need to leave the campfire at 8:45 and walk briskly. It is about 1/3 to 1/2 mile to the beach. Most campers have a golf cart and would enjoy taking you to the beach. We love doing that sort of thing. It is our way of spreading the love of this very special place . RV people are the nicest, friendliest folks around. There are literally hundreds of golf carts running around the Fort. We often offer walking people a ride. Believe me, Fort Wilderness is absolutely full of Disney magic.

It's possible to walk, but (especially if you don't know where you're going) just take an "internal bus" from the Settlement Bus Stop (next to Pioneer Hall/Hoop) and ride to the Meadow Bus Stop (that's the Campfire stop.)

Ask tell any Ft. Wilderness bus driver that you're headed to the Campfire.

As big a fan as I am of the busses, in this case, it is a shorter walk from Hoop Dee Doo to the campground than you will save by taking the internal bus. Any of the CM's will point you in the right direction, and the path is well marked. If you have a walking issue, as Robo says, the internal bus is very convenient.

FORT WILDERNESS CAMPFIRE: (open to all)

1) Location:
. . . within the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds
. . . near Meadows Trading Post, behind swimming pool area
2) Transportation to Fort Wilderness
. . . car to Fort Wilderness parking lot
. . . bus to Fort Wilderness from almost anywhere inside WDW
. . . boat to FW from Magic Kingdom or Wilderness Lodge Resort
. . . monorail to Contemporary Resort, then boat to FW
. . . most resorts have a separate bus to Fort Wilderness after 5:00pm
4) Transportation to Campfire
. . . take internal bus and ask for Campfire bus stop
5) Time
. . . spring and summer months - 8:00pm start time
. . . fall and winter months - 7:00pm start time
. . . every night of the year, weather permitting
. . . if rain. sing-along is on trading post porch
6) Activities

. . . marshmallows/smores available for EXPENSIVE purchase at Chuck Wagon
. . . Chip-n-Dale at fire pit for photos and autographs (approx 40-min)
. . . sing-along in front of screen, usually with a solo guitarist (appox 40-min)
. . . animated or live action outdoor Disney film (approx 1½-hrs)
. . . short walk to a play area
7) Things to Know
. . . free to any WDW resort guest (yes, actually free ! )
. . . one of few places for autographs not requiring a meal or admission
. . . bring a light jacket, as it can get cool after sunset
. . . seating is on benches and bleachers, so a pad is nice comfort
. . . there are grassy areas to bring a blanket and sit on the ground
. . . better yet, bring folding chairs
. . . fortunately, they do not grade you on your voice during the sing-along
. . . there is no dress code
. . . plenty of CM's around for child safety
. . . excellent bus transportation before and after Campfire
. . . good activity after the early show at Hoop-Dee-Do-Review
. . . you many bring you own marshmallows-food-drinks-beer-coolers
. . . pizza, hot dogs, candy, nachos, popcorn for purchase at Chuck Wagon
. . . coffee, beer, soda, juices available for purchase at the Chuck Wagon
. . . for rain, they move the sing-along, but you will still get wet
. . . you can see A LITTLE of the MK fireworks from the FW beach

NOTE: We find this to be a really great activity for either the first night at
WDW, or the last night before going home. Good time for family bonding, and
nice to veg-out.

This event is really quite casual. That being said if you want to really hear the movie, probably not gonna happen.

The one thing we did that I really liked is that I pre-made smores wrapping each in a piece of foil. Layed them over the fire and turned them as needed. Open packet, smush together, and you've got a cramb catcher. When done, crumple and toss. This allowed me to enjoy the event without messy fingers and kept me from 'working' while we were there.
